A3000 video problem
« on: September 15, 2007, 06:28:48 PM »
My A3000 works OK, but the video is unstable (I test in 15 pin and 23 pin connector). The image blinks and shows trash in the screen.
The effect is more when the cpu, hd, mouse, working.
I check the PSU and is normal voltages.

If chip RAM isn't bad, it must be either the Denise chip, the socket or something close to it. Could be Agnus, too (chip/socket).

Check the battery.  Mine was doing similar things and I saw it started leaking a bit and corroded some traces near Amber.

Denise and Agnus is the first that I changed, and non solution. The socked seem clean.
I will check the closer component... Some in concrete ?

I check the memory with a test program and all OK.

The amiga works perfect but the video output is a disaster: blinking, trash (as little lines or pixeles white), image ghost. Sometime is as interferences.

Per example: If press left mouse button in Opus Directory, the image stability and blinking is major.

In repose, with the workbench loaded (the HD stopped and non touching nothing) the video is OK.

Thanks for the responses.

I had the same promblem with a desktop A3000 but I can't remember exactly what chip was bad.I want to say it was two of the cia chips but I don't know what a cia chip has to do with video.

I bought this computer from a friend and I did know about the graphic problems. It was very minor but I wanted my miggy to be all it could be ;so I sent it to softhut and they did a wonderful job and fixed the problem.I would reccomend them but I belive they have stopped repairs long ago. That's a shame because the guy they had for a tech was tops!

I will see if I still have the repair receipt and email more info.Would a graphics card fix your problem?

Thanks         :-D  :-D

Could still be the PSU, check voltages as the HD spins up, ect. Mine was trashing video, found 12v was dropping to 11.5v during  HD spin up. Re-adjusted level pot in PSU.
