When someone creates an account on a forum and immediately posts 2 messages promoting some Chinese website selling computer stuff, that's pretty much spam to me. It's not about selling goods you say? I beg to differ in this case...

Seems a nice idea to me.

Nothing wrong with one of those and have a HDD for backup in case.

I backup all my Amiga software by using MakeCD any way up.

While it may be a subject we can all chime in about, it is still unsolicited marketing, IE SPAM!!!

No. Amigakit sells Amiga hardware and is a well known and respected person over here. I doubt this Chinese figure has even heard of, let alone USED an Amiga, so I will classify this stuff as spam.

And check his website: only 293 visitors? Pretty questionable if you ask me....

:roll:  What I think is sensible is to moderate threads/posts/people on a case-by-case basis.  Don't ban the new guy just because his first few posts relate to things he thinks the Amiga community might be interested in.  After all, what would you prefer he post about first?  Sex, religion and politics?  Please.

What do I care about his profile? Selling goods isn't spam.

Having CF on IDE is interesting as far as Amiga goes, and probably to others, it ain't nothing bulk on it it ain't like the spam I get on mail.

With all the talk of CF cards crapping out I was a bit nervous about using it as a quick storage device. But after seeing thats what the ASUS EEE is using it makes me think Intel probably did a little research into it so they probably are not nearly as 'dangerous' a media as people here seem to make it out. Dont they have a read/write fail statistic on all the cards anyway?

Hi,

AFAIK wear-levelling algorithms implemented in either software (one of the new Linux kernel MT drivers has such an algorithm if I'm not mistaken) or the controller, can extend the life of NAND cards significantly.

The CF card actually has a mini IDE controller in it, which performs wear-levelling. Combining this with up to 1000000 max write cycles means that CF can last for ages (actually I just read that 'industrial' CF can do 2mil + cycles now!).
