People actually use MSN? On any system?? I dont think I know a single MSN user on Amiga, PC, Windows, Mac, Linux, VAX, anything. While I'm all for writing tools to enable minority systems like Amiga and Linux to access proprietary networks and programs, MSN wouldnt be my first choice.

That said, if you're doing it, why not continue? Even if it doesnt get much use, it sounds like a good mental challenge, and it may benefit someone.

If he doesn't continue, isn't there a Trillian clone on Amiga that would do MSN anyway?

Hi guys, it's been forever since I did anything with AmiMSN.

It still connects & still works with a slight modification to it's login routine.

Should I bother to continue with it?

Sorry for being O.T. - but please could someone explain to me what MSN is good for?
All the best,

What is MSN good for? Well, isn't it the most popular chat program at the moment? I'm surprised by whoever it was page 1 that said "Does anyone use MSN anymore?". What do they use now then?

This is a hobby program.

I'm going to at least release a version that will connect and work again.

I found something interesting.

Since I remember someone using OS4 not being able to use AmiMSN because of VintEval crashing, I decided to implement my own modulo function. I was going to use "Ev" to do the rest of the calculations when it failed to calculate this correctly:

892809265*242854337

You wouldn't believe how long it took me to figure out that that was the problem. I'm using "bc" now, but it's slower than VintEval. AmiMSN would do several calculations on 1 line, but i'm going to have to split it up now, and invoke the 3rd party program several times. This is only needed for a response algorithm when you sign in, and lasts no more than a couple of seconds.

@MickJT

YES!

Definitely continue............we Dont really have an MSN Client for Amiga except Epistula which is only for OS4.  We need it for OS3.1  so thanks for all your work.

Yes indeed lots of Americans use MSN............I personally think its the worst Messenger and people only use it because it comes with Windows and is the default chat program. Also Hotmail users use it.

By far Hands down the most popular in the USA is AIM/ AOL instant messenger with Yahoo messenger not far behind.

Nevertheless its good to be able to use all these chat programs so that people see Amiga is still kicking and fighting the good fight!

Thanks for all you do! I really appreciate it.
CD32 is actually the best Amiga ever made by Commodore!...

On AmiMSN web page you have info about this problem...

"If you get an unable to obtain ticket message, delete the stunnel.pid file. Do not delete stunnel.rnd"

that is reason why dont work..

Here works perfect under os3.9...only what I need is small cuty GUI :)

@Voodoo

Cheers mate, I had read that and already deleted it when testing previous versions.
Didn't work then and doesn't work on the latest one either.
Any other ideas?
