AMI-PC Help!

Hi,

I have a copy of AMI-PC (parallel transfer program) and i cant get it to work correctly.  Can anyone help?

I have discovered that it simply wont work with XP, even though it claims to.  I have now setup an old Windows 98 laptop.  When i connect it to this i eventually get the PCdisk icon on the Workbench screen but it appears empty.

Any ideas?

I'm using Workbench 3.1 on an A1200 with a 6GB HDD.

I didn't have any luck getting it to work in XP either. Inside the icon on your Workbench screen should be the drives A:\, C:\ and D:\ etc of your PC of course. I can't remember if you have to select 'Show All files...' from the menus at the top of your Workbench screen to see them, but it might be worth checking mate  :-)

The problem is that Windows XP restricts access to the parallel port. Older applications which are not written to take account of this will not be able to access the port.

This page explains this in more detail, and also suggests an alternative driver and a software patch for the parallel port to allow access from older apps (MS-DOS, Win95....) to the parallel port under XP.
