A1200 doesn't boot after scsi.device upgrade
« on: April 06, 2007, 04:58:07 PM »
Hi everybody

I have tried to install a replacement scsi device for mi Workbench 3.1 in order to be able to use my CDROM (LG 52X Atapi) with amicdfs 2.40.

I got the scsi ide from here :
http://os.amigaworld.de/index.php?lang=en&page=37

I installed the soft as the readme file explains, editing the Startup-sequence and putting there the line :

LoadV43Module >NIL: a300.ld.strip

As a result of this my Amiga 1200 no longer boots from hard drive...

Is there a way to fix the problem without having to reinstall workbench 3.1 from scratch??

My machine:

A1200, 4 Gb HD, 68030 Accelerator with 32 Mb fast.
Kickstart 3, Workbench 3.1
Euro72 video mode (I'm not able to see Amiga Early Setup screen unless I connect it to the TV)

Thanks in advance.
A1200 Desktop : 16 Gb CF card, DVD ROM, ZIP 250, Fastata 1200 MKII, 128 Mb Fast, Microbotics 1230XA Accelerator, WLAN Card, AmigaOS 3.9

- Power off
- Power on, holding left and right mouse button
- Choose boot without startup-sequence
- Ed s:startup-sequence
- Remove or comment out the LoadV43Module line
- Save changes
- Reboot

It's probably trying to show you a warning that the scsi 43.24 (a300.ld.strip) has expired. Dunno if there's a patch to remove the date checking for this.

There is a patch for the 43.23 version though..
 scsi 43.23
patch for 43.23
On schedule, and suing

It didn't even get this far. The only thing he will see is the lines

LoadV43Module: unknown command
LoadV43Module failed return code 10

Bye,
Thomas

This happens if the amigaDOS don't find the program. Be sure you enter the right path to the program, or put it in the C: drawer.

Goodbye people.

I\'ll pop on from time to time, RL is acting up.

Or it could be because Loadv43Module only found Kickstart 3.0 (I think that's what Thomas was hinting at   :-P )

Thanks everyone for its contributions.

Let me say It's a pleasure for an Amiga Platform beginner like me to receive those so detailed explanations.

Maybe this is the reason why the platform survives after its "theoretical death" many years ago.

Tomorrow morning I'll connect my A1200 to the TV and fix the line in Startup-sequence file.

Thank you very much.
