I think that eslapion's eBay feedback is a good indicator of reputation, don't you? He has 100% positive feedback on 54 transactions. I think that's pretty good. I must say that I really am amazed (read disappointed) at the attitudes I'm encountering here. If a person offers to give me something, I'm thankful for it. I don't start whinging because I wasn't satisfied with their level of service. Mind you, I'm not an ingrate.
Call me Golan; my parents did.

This should be a new topic...

nah, i didn't feel the need for that (and didn't see this thread going in a nice direction). i've given him the benefit of the doubt after one smooth transaction, and this seemed like a good deal.

i'm happy to say that he's already gotten back to me on this. seems shipping the PSU and DOS2DOS 'slipped his mind' the day he shipped everything. :-D we'll see what happens, seems pretty reasonable so far. just woke up, i'll reply in a few. for some reason i think George is alright. he's a bit eccentric and into himself, but a lot of us are sometimes. he seems to take nice care of his stuff as well, not sure how he thought this would survive the trip packed how it was though. scary thing is, he says he's shipped several A500s like this before. :-o yikes! seems ok so far though, i'm looking forward to a pleasant result. i have faith in the Doomster.

I haven't entered into any of the discussion on this topic, or the previous one where the machines were offered, but from reading this, I feel I have to go with James.  I haven't met either of them, nor spoken to them, however, it seems to me as though James has thought out his posts, and written quite clearly.  Eslapion on the other hand, has started making threats and flaming the heck out of him.  Hardly a mature thing to do - I've had people disagree with me on forums before, but flipping out is not the way to solve it, particularly when the OP has gone to the trouble of making a well thought out post.

...

James, I think you might have jumped to conclusions here.  To be honest, I would have thought the same thing probably, but I can understand why it might have upset Eslapion.  I think everyone just needs to settle down a bit  :-D

What you are saying is, if somebody starts posting attacks on your reputation simply because he was denied access to a meeting where he could be given free computers then it is ok to use your natural emotional reaction to portray you as "immature".

Have you considered that this "well thought out post" can, in fact, be a very "well thought out" effective form of psychological harassment whose purpose is specifically to make you lose your nerves so you look bad to everyone?

Thank you, however, for considering that what James posted can be very upsetting.

anyway, how about another favorite ebay seller? got my A500 from RetroGeek this afternoon. this guy prides himself (apparently) on his packing/shipping. look at this {bleep}:

Hey, I am having serious problems with this RetroGeek too.

I won an A3000 casing from him more than 2 weeks ago and I am still waiting to get a shipping pricing from him.

hmm, that's weird. he's sent an invoice right away for the two transactions so far. of course he only accepts a money order.

ahh, remembered you're in Canada. this may have thrown him for a complete loop, i'm sure he's still trying to recover from it. :-D or maybe he hasn't been able to borrow the car keys from mother to make it down to the post office for a quote. don't let him give you any flack about a Canadian money order, those can be easily cashed at our post offices.

My view on the free amiga thing..

He promised you free Amiga computers, didnt give them to you or whatever his excuse was.  No money was lost.  Was there intentional dishonesty? dunno.  You didnt lose out on any money, maybe just got your feelings hurt.  No sense creating a thread about not getting something for free because you didnt lose anything.  Move on.

about the retrogeek thing.. live and learn..you should have paid attention to the many warnings on AO.

I dislike taking any sides, but I feel for James as far as feeling frustrated/pulled.  If I were in his shoes and he jerked me saying he cant do it for another 3 weeks, id give him the finger lol.  Waste of time and people that put things on weeks of wait just aint worth the time.  Its like when you win an auction on Ebay and the seller waits a week before he mails out your item...

Had that problem when I bought a HDD for an ipod, and the seller was less then a half a state away, and it took the HDD to arrive a week and a half later, turning out the HDD was dead when i got it....

Not here to flame, but simply stating that if someone jerks you around, just forget them.  :-)
