A1000 Help

Minimig huh, Ive heard many like the minimig, can you perhaps explain why some of the reasons are for this??

Also, wheres the best website to perhaps buy a minimig, or arent they available yet, just like the hardware for a OS4 with case??

P.S.Ive got emulated OS3.9 also, Id love to find people in Victoria for some help with it, as I wouldnt mind running it and having it booted from startup on my PC.

P.S.S.Also, what are my limitations on games for the emulated version of OS3.9, Im asking, as I havent had time to read up on all of this, nor to search for it!

Also, Im hoping I can get my external 1060 setup working, so that I have a harddrive to store the information onto. I was hoping that I can always have information onit, and basically use the hard drive to play games and use creation software.

I did a lot of my upgrades before there was an internet, I think around 1990. This is the only Amiga site I've found (besides the common ones like the hardware site), but I'll look at the other one mentioned that is for A1000s. I'll try to help out if I can.

The final upgrade I bought for it is a CSA Derringer 50 in 1997/8. For some reason it didn't work, but I can't remember why. I think it was game compatibility. I love Deluxe Galaga and it didn't work with the 68030. I'm very knowledgable with PCs, but the Amiga is more of a mistery. I might not have put the 68030 libraries in the correct place. The CSA has my old 68000 in it, so it might work this time if I switch to that processor for compatibility.

Regarding sofware compatibility, no issues so far. I did have issues with an old game Pioneer Plague, but recently figured out how to "degrade" the ECS chipset to the OCS chipset so that even this troublesome game works fine. I don't have much other software, like rendering. I did buy a Lattice C compiler but never put it to use. I would like to make games, probably by using Amos.

Another cool thing with the Expert Services Rejuvinator is that you can toggle between PAL and NTSC modes.

I think the last thing I could do with it besides getting the CSA to work would be to get a flicker fixer. The Rejuvenator has a video slot allowing you to install a video card.

I dont have any flickering on my system at the moment. Although, I do only have up to 1.3 working, as 2.0 disks are screwed(what a shame), so I may get some of the net!

Hence, when I was told about 3.1 being able to work, I found that pretty cool!

So with certain upgrade, are you suggesting I could play heretic 2 and so forth on my A1000??

The Minimig interests me for several reasons.

1: It's just too cool. ;-)
2: It's a classic Amiga, and I'm more interested in the classic at this time.
3: It's hackable, being open source. I've been wanting to learn FPGA design, this looks like a fun place to start.
3: It's small. You could make a nice portable Amiga, like Dennis posted to the Minimig thread.

You can't buy it, you have to build it yourself. Dennis (the designer) has said he will release the design to open source. So I guess some people are figuring someone will build them for sale, if they don't feel up to the task of doing it themselves.


I'm not the best person to ask about emulated games under 3.9. Most of the games I play require 1.3. It's easy enough to switch ROM files in the emulation and come up under 1.3 if needed. It amazes me how well it works now. I ran Deluxe Music and played MIDI files thru my pc's sound card. I never got that to work before.
