Blizzard 1260 value?
« on: February 13, 2007, 10:45:46 PM »
Hi!

I have a somewhat defective Blizzard 1260. Somewhat as in it needs to be pressed to a particular point to operate correctly. Dunno what causes this, but that's how it is. I have a second bppc now and I'll sell it, but dunno for how much considering the problem it has. I had mine in a desktop a1200 with a piece of paper inside pressing it just enough to operate. It comes with 64mb of ram. So, if anybody has any idea plz let me know and when I decide the price I'll put it on the marketplace part of the forum.

Thx!

$0 USD.

Sorry most people want working items.  Maybe Jean at Amiga France will fix it for you?

$0 USD.

How wrong you are:

Broken Blizzard 1260 (sold for $165).
Not the only example. I've seen a defective Cyberstorm PPC going for over $300.

@tjlazer:
well, I considered fixing it, but I have no real use for it now.....I don't think 0$ is right tho as the card is not dead, problematic yes not dead tho, not completely worthless imo.....I mean, I had my system running fine with it on.

@humppa:
wow! I wouldn't sell it for so much for sure, I don't wanna rip ppl off. It IS defective after all. I had thought of more like 100euros or so + postage.

But I'd like to hear what ppl think first.....as I said, I don't wanna rip anyone off by any means, I'd rather keep it at the attic instead.

I'd say 100 euros sounds about right for a defective board.
You should also consider sending it to Amiga center in France for a free diagnosis, you might find it costs in excess of 100 euro for the repair but at least then you could sell it again for it's full price.

If you have a SMD station, or even a cell phone repair center near you can fix this board easily. :-D

Major problems like that you have are caused by cold joint spots. Simply pass a SMD station solder over the region and yo will fix all. :-o

Goodbye people.

I\'ll pop on from time to time, RL is acting up.

Well IMHO a problematic card = dead and it is not worth any money to me!  See the card might be problematic today and tomorrow it may be dead!!  If I am going to pay $100, why not spend another $80 or another $100 for a properly working card?  Now for someone that can fix this themselves then it is worth it, but how many of you can fix it?  Not many I bet.  I would just have someone fix it or offer it on ebay as some idiot will bid on it as already mentioned!  And just because a broken card sold for a stated amount does not mean it is worth that much!!!

Perhaps this card is a candidate for someone to fix then.  Offer it up as defective and someone might be able to repair it.  Best thing to do if you want to sell it.

Yep, and for selling it, the info that even his defective 1260 is worth more than just "0 dollars" should have been very helpful to him. :-P
