Very true.  Has anyone noticed the same phenomena with CDs?  I have 20+ year old CDs that are scratched to ribbons, yet still play flawlessly.  New CDs and especially DVDs, on the other hand, need to be handled with surgical gloves or they totally f*ck up.

I went through a stage of throwing amiga floppies away as they were literally numbering in the hundreds of thousands!  :-(
