060 for the A3000t
« on: November 19, 2006, 12:14:36 AM »
I'm going to upgrade my 3000T and would like to keep it GVP if I can.  Has anyone ever put in a TRex2 from GVP in a 3000?  I have other GVP products in my computer and would like to keep it as much GVP as I can, I have the IV24, Spectrum, 40/40 from GVP is in now with 32 megs of RAM.  I'm going to pull the Emplant out and Delfina sound card.  I want only Amiga and I think the sound card has some conflicts with the 3000.

The delfina shouldn't be a problem..  What makes you think that it might have a conflict?

I have a lock up problem when playing MP3, the system will just lock and I have to reboot the system, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.  I do have AHI and it seems to work fine, but not sure of the problem with my sound.

That's a bug with delfina.library. Make sure you're using version 4.16 Beta 3 patch #2, dated Oct-14-2001, 39852 bytes. If you send me a PM with your email address, I can send it to you.

Thanks for the information, I will check the number, my Email is oldman3000t@yahoo.com

Thanks for the input, been reading about the 060 and information say's it should work, it may or may not have a conflict with SCSI, but it will fit into the 3000 with no problems.  I have the 3000T apart right now and cleaning it up, removed the DKB 3128, emplant and emplant to clean up, and I'm using ESD wrist band while working on the computer.

@Oldman3000:

If you ever want to part ways with your DKB3128, please let me know.  :)  I even have a Cyberstorm 060/50 MKIII with 128M 60ns RAM on it I would take part trade/barter with if you are interested.

I'll think about it, the A3000T is a great system, and I'll keep you in mind.  I need to tell you if I do trade or swap out, you must not have an older 040 in your tower or it will not work, I'm not sure what cause the problems but DKB and other post have noted the problem.  I want the GVP 060 for 2 reasons, first the speed second they have a sub board that can be plug in and give an extra 256 megs of Ram  :-D .  This will work great with my DPS and PAR with the IV24 and free an extra slot.

Hey I have a problem with my A3000T, it seems to not be able to recognize CPU cards any more.  (Fast Slot dead?)  Works otherwise.  Any suggestions?

Wow!  Was not aware of that addon you mentioned allowing 256M extra RAM with the GVP 060?  Was that something where the card had to be "upgraded" (as in the Z3 Fastlane), or was it an an addon card on top of the accelerator?

The 3128 would not be an issue for me.  Got all the speed I need.  (2) A4Ks each with cstormPPC604e/68060, one of which is overcloced.   I would like to be able to get my Amiga to where my Atari Falcon was... 500+ MEG of memory.  The 3128 would put me 128Meg closer.  :)

Thats a drag.  You've tried different CPU cards?  Do they register at all in the early-startup, defective or otherwise?

Yeah tried the Cyberstorm MKII in a A4000 and it worked.  Cannot try my A3640 until I get a chip that is required.  Can a fast slot ever die?

Nice info on that GVP add on!  I have a TRex 2 in my A4000, to bad I cannot use a card like that (if you can find one!!!)
