"I would ask them for their side of the story with respect to the now infamous Bill Buck posting on Moobunny..."

I second that.
Are there any bugs in the Articia?

I also second the question about support for the PPC 970
\\"We made Amiga, they {bleep}ed it up\\"

Yeah i have a number of questions. :)

1) Is AGP 8x planned?

2) Is there any 'faster' than 333MHz memory support planned for a future chipset?

3) Mac's have some nice (custom) chipsets, will MAI ever put them to shame? :)

4) There has been some talk in the Amiga community (ok alot of talk) about DMA errors on the Arctia and a new revision of the chipset was reciently released. It's been said the problem is only a driver issue with linux and others have said its the Arctica itself. Can you give any info (technical or otherwise) to help clear up the DMA questions?

5) Will there be support for the IBM 970 and any variants that pop up in the future?

6) Speed, speed, speed. Where is MAI going with the chipset in regards to this?

Hmm, i can't think of anything else...

7) Marry-Ann or Ginger? :)

Ivan

And I'll add this .. If you asked Microsoft "Does WindowsXP have any security flaws?" what kind of answer do you think you would get? Would MAI be any different from Microsoft in their answer?

>Question for MAI.

MAI had received "Ready for IBM Technology" certificate.

I had asked IBM Software Division about porting AIX to MAI Logic based motherboards, similar to IBM porting AIX to Bull's PowerPC based products:

Official statement from IBM:
MAI Logic based motherboards ARE NOT COMPATIBLE with AIX. It is impossible to port AIX to MAI LOGIC motherboards!

What is THE MEANING of "Ready for IBM Technology"?
Is MAI Logic products ready for AIX, one of IBM's Technology?

Sorry for answering questions, but ...

The IBM Technology MAI Logic products is ready for, is IBM PowerPC processors!!!

There are 3 different "Ready for IBM Technology" solutions ... have a look http://www-3.ibm.com/chips/solutions/rfit/ ... and AIX is not one of them!!!

Here you can see that the "Articia S Chipset", "Teron CX" and "Teron PX" is ready for IBM PowerPC processors!

You can also just take a look at the website of MAI Logic ... look at the "Ready for IBM Technology" thing ... look a bit south ;-)

Forgive my obvious ignorance, but ....

Why Via 686B  which has problems ... Hey, I even had to dump a brand new MoBo (Asus Cuv4x) because of that Poxy Chipset a couple of YEARS[/i] back.

Why not KT400 ??

@The_editor

Because the 686A (used in the original Teron)
doesn't have those bugs (but also only UDMA66),
is/was cheap and easy to connect to the NB ?

Because back than noone at MAI even thought about
turning that design into a consumer-product, and
such minor troubles didn't hurt much on a eval-board ?

Maybe becaues Eyetech have neither the cash nor
the knowledge to design a mobo with another NB from
ground, to avoid those toubles ?
1. Make an announcment.
2. Wait a while.
3. Check if it can actually be done.
4. Wait for someone else to do it.
5. Start working on it while giving out hillarious progress-reports.
6. Deny that you have ever announced it
7. Blame someone else

Jep ;-)

Your welcome :-)

But I think one problem might be the 8X V-link (looks like it is the link between North and South) have a look at the KT400 page  :-?

@ Kronos.

Thankyou for enlightening me.

It seems a shame that its always the " That'll be good enough " philosophy always seems to be used !!

What is wrong with the 8231 used in the Pegasos?

@Henning

The VT8231 in it's current (latest) revision
does not have any critical bugs, perfoms just
as good (if not better) than the 686B (with a
SW-based bugfix), offers more features and uses
less power.

But no no no, that is not the true path and
most therefore be wrong  :-P
