EFIKA now available at $199 USD
« on: November 03, 2006, 11:46:05 PM »
I think this is good news.  Finally some new hardware that will run AmigaOS applications even if it doesn't run AmigaOS4.  And you can get it now and get it cheap.

No, running UAE on Linux doesn't get me excited, sorry.
If you are referring to Morphos, there is still no confirmation that it ever will get released for Efika.
So at present, I would rather get myself a 1.2 Ghz Via Mini-ITX. Passively cooled, more connectors, more choice regarding OS, better performance.
I might change my mind if MOS get's released for it though.

Nice! Now if it only ran MorphOS.. I havn't much followed this, anyone have a link to the exact specs? Even without MOS, I could see possibly buying one of these for Linux.

-Edit-

Never mind, found it.

Here's a link to the specs:  http://www.bplan-gmbh.de/efika_spec_en.html

It was shown a few weeks ago running a pre-release version of MorphOS 1.5

Thanks, with the pre-release shown, did they give any release information?

Hmmm...I don't remember but here's the link to the story:

http://www.morphos-news.de/index.php?lg=en&nid=1267&si=1

And here's the link to the videos of MorphOS 1.5 pre running on   the EFIKA:

http://meeting2006.morphosi.net/

I suppose you could contact Axel and see what was necessary to get it running on his EFIKA.  He actually sells them at his web site and is an authorized Genesi dealer.  You can leave him a note here:  http://knabe.bwelf.de/kontakt.php or just email him at this address:  Axel.Knabe@Knabe-Bueroservice.de

Does it not have video built in?

Why make it so small if you just have to add a video card anyway.  Seems like the video card will be as big or bigger than the motherboard an then it's almost like what's the point?

If this had video onboard with VGA & TV out it might be cool.

Port MorphOS to EPIA EN 15000G C7 Mini-ITX Board please:

170mm x 170mm

1.5GHz C7 powered
CN700 chipset
Gigabit LAN
2x SATA with RAID 0/1
2x IDE
One DDR2 DIMM slot up to 1GB DDR2 400/533
TV outputs
4x USB 2.0 Ports
RoHS compliant.
6 channel audio
Integrated Unichrome Pro graphics with MPEG-2 decoder acceleration and 70 pin LVDS/TTL/DVI connector (requires add-on card)
Rear Panel Connectors:
PS2 Mouse & Keyboard
Serial
VGA
4x USB 2.0
LAN
S-Video
RCA S/PDIF or Composite Video (switchable output);
3x 3.5mm Audio (Line-out, Line-in and Mic-in, can be configured as 5.1 outputs).
A3000D (16mhz, 2MB Chip, 4MB Fast, SCSI (300+MB), SuperGen Genlock, Kick 3.1)
Back in my day, we didn\'t have water. We only had Oxygen and Hydrogen, and we\'d just have to shove them together.

AROS on a 1GHz pc yanked out of the trash can looks more attractive than this.

Well, I've watched the 'EFIKA in action' video (http://www.bplan-gmbh.de/projects_en.html) and I'm glad to see it runs Tux Racer  :-P

Hey, check out that manufacturing video. All that tech to build the board, yet you still need some chump to plug in the electrolytic capacitors.

I love how the video starts off with a logo that says "Plan B", isn't that the abortion pill?

@redrumloa

Please note that the official statement by the MorphOS-Team is still that there is currently no end-user support planned.

A recent thread with members of the MorphOS-Team involved has been here. Alternatively, the same in a nutshell.

Which is understandable as long as there isn't a sufficient number of Efika end-users who might be interested in MorphOS to make it worth to fine-tune MorphOS for this board and provide end-user support.

That demo video is a fake! Theres no way they would get tux racer that smooth on a 400MHz g3! I don't get that good frame on a 1.42GHz g4 with a 512mb ram and Radeon 9200.

Notice that they end the video in windows xp?
