Alex,
What type of support did you require for a used X-Surf? If it was drivers or instructions etc I could have easily helped you.

James,

I'm talking repair.  What if something went wrong and I recieved the same hassle?  I'd rather deal w/a company that is more willing to help.  I have other Amiga NIC cards so I dont care to offload this for cheap also.

A 2nd hand used X-Surf would likely be out of warranty. Don't get me wrong, you are entitled to your opinion. I would just like to go on the record to state I have sold many hundred of Individual Computers products since between 2003-2006 and now 2008 forward without a single person dissatisfied due to warranty issues.

I'm not trying to discount anyone's experience, just try to bring another perspective. If I would recommend anything it would be to deal with your reseller almost exclusively if possible for support when dealing with warranty issues.

Whenever I have had problems or questions about products (yes one of those products where an X-surf)from Individual Computers I have gotten an answer in a couple of days. Often more detailed than I was asking for. I know lots of people here in Sweden who have never received their goods they bought from people in USA.

Why was this a600 accelerator delayed and is there anything we can do to speed this up a little? I'd buy two right off the bat.

C'mon anyone else?

I can safely say that i'm very happy about Jens' products and support.
BR, you're a {bleep}ing whiner.
If Jens says he sent you a chip, he sent you a {bleep}ing chip.
No doubt about that.
He's one of the most honest persons i have ever met.

In my eyes you're just trolling, and not helping the Amiga community either by trying to smudge the reputation of one of the few Amiga hardware developers still out there.

Just my 2 cents.
Oh, btw. Don't like my comment? Too bad, live with it.
I know i'm right.

I think this is wonderfull and wish I could say the same
thing.

Your welcome.

Again, I think it's wonderfull you've received the kind
of treatment that makes you feel this way. Unfortunately
what you do or don't doubt has no influence on how I've
been treated.

Waiting over a year for someone to do the right thing,
giving up and mentioning it so others can avoid this kind
of problem isn't trolling or smudging. And how many developers there are has nothing to do with it either.
And while your busy knowing your right I'm still waiting
for him to keep his word. Regardless of how you feel I
can honestly say I hope no one ever does this to you.
I think thats what you call community.

Can MACH chips be dumped? They're just FPGA-style programmable chips, right?

I even don't comment about dumping (who is a kind of piracy, for your information). Please, don't take wrong, I'm just informing you. I dislike flame wars more than any other thing. So we now can move to next paragraph.

No, the MACH chips (as PIC, GAL and equivalents) are read-protected(!). You can burn your (or someone else's)  code (if the protection bit/fuse is not set), but not read it after the process.

So, no, you can't dump it.
Goodbye people.

I\'ll pop on from time to time, RL is acting up.

See how that works?   With what little of a community is out there the last remaining companies have to ensure their customer support is top notch.  All it takes is one screw up to lose trust of what little is out there.

Hmm. And there's been no comment by Jens on the whole issue? None whatsoever?

It is strange because he usually is a fairly trustworthy individual. Maybe BR pissed him off royally in some way? Either way, this is getting out of hand.

I'll have to agree on the lack of warranty.  When I picked up my C-One, it took 4 months for him to send him a flash chip to make it work.  I later picked up a RR-Net card for the C64, it didn't work.  Protovision told me that they wouldn't support me and to get with Jens.  4 months after repeated emails to Jens, I was told to send it back to him.  3 months after that I asked where it was and was told 'I never got it' and never heard from him again.

Sigh and Protovision is not here to comment either.

I'm not faulting Protovision.  Their service has been great but they basically told me since they believed all of the items had been tested that were shipped to them, that it must be a defect and to get with the manufacturer.  And it's quite possible that it *did* work on its way out the door and was damaged in shipping.

I don't have a problem at all supporting the few companies that are making products for older machines  As an owner of a stupid amount of Individual Computer products (C-One, Xsurf, Retro Replay, MMC64, etc), I was disappointed that the one issue I had wasn't resolved and it definitely makes me think twice about putting any more money towards new products since there seems to be so many neat things coming out in the future.

There is the problem with mailing items internationally. Unless you pay a premium, you don't get any sort of tracking ability. Putting a trace on un-registered mail that has no tracking ability is a complete and total waste of time. This is why I typically only use USPS Express mail when selling to people outside the USA. Even for the smallest items it will cost the buyer $30+ but I would have no recourse otherwise if the recipient claims non-delivery.

I wasn't notified that any of these 2 or 3 or however many
chips, were being sent. Otherwise I would've waited a few weeks and sent email saying they hadn't arrived instead of waiting a few weeks and sending email asking when 1 was being sent, over and over and over again. It doesn't make sense. I might send someone mail in my state without telling them to expect mail, but I'd never send mail overseas without also notifying the recipient, and I'm sure you
wouldn't either.

You put it very well. Just because only a few people have
problems doesn't mean the problems didn't occur and it
does make you wonder about future purchases. If the guy
walked on water or turned bread into wine I could see people
being shocked by complaints.

Yes, he has commented. Read through the mess again and
you'll see them.

Even if I have it doesn't matter. A warantee is a warantee.
Unless he's telling his distributors like AmigaKit "Do
not sell my products to people I'm mad at, or people I
dont like" he should be prepared to provide support.
