Kickflash 500 in Amiga 600
« on: August 17, 2006, 05:33:24 PM »
Hi,

I would like to build a Kickflash500 for my Amiga 600. In my opinion Kickflash should work in an A600 or what to you think? But there is a problem because of the missing Gary chip in the A600:

I don´t know where to get the A19, A20 and WE signal.

Concerning to the A19 and A20 I think the solution is very easy: as you can see in on this homepage
http://www.amiga-stuff.com/hardware/4mbit-maskrom.html
the A600 alreasy has the A19 and A20 on the pins 1 and 42 of the kickrom socket (as you certainly know normally they are left free because the kickrom itself has just 40 pins). Are these the signals I need for the Kickflash-board?

But the great problem is the WE signal! Do you have an idea where to get it in the A600? What does the signal do? I haven´t found anything on the net so I hope you can help me with this.

I also sent RedskullDC an email, but maybe one of you is able to help me too.

THX

/WE = Write Enable. When asserted, it signifies a write cycle.
It's generated by Gayle (the a600/1200 version of Gary), pin #8.
This page has more info, and also links to a pinout diagram for PLCC packaged chips such as Gayle.
On schedule, and suing

Thanks that helped a lot. But has already anyone tried this thing in an A600?

I feel like it should work since A500s and A600s use the same physical ROMs. I can't confirm this, though.

That was my thought too! I´ll give the answer in a few weeks I think.
