The other thing I wonder is, say if the Amiga does get back onto a stable footing, eg. new, faster Amigas complimented by AmigaOS developing at a reasonable rate, and so "real news" will be coming in at a reasonable rate to keep us interested, is whether all the people who spread FUD all the time will shut up and find something better to do?

semi rant over :-)

There's no news like bad news and in he absences of any news people will assume the worse.  It's not good, it's not right, but it is.

On the gripping hand we faithful Amiga few have been ripped by so much jolly good news that turned out bad, that many are afraid to hope anymore.  They turn their backs on anything good they hear with a "yea, yea, heard that before".

Amiga fans have come to hope for the best and expect the worst.  When so many bright new starts have ended face down in the mud, and we get nothing, well yes, it gets hard to keep holding out.  I might be from Michigan, but I'm moving to Missouri.  As far as anything Amiga it's "Show Me"

The questions are, are people really spreading FUD? or do the people who shout FUD all the time do it because they hate to see people expressing opinions which disagree with them?

I would bet money on the 2nd one.

You seem to be implying that only one of the scenarios you presented can be the case, which makes it sound a tad like a troll.  Was that your intention?

No, just stating an opinion which was clearly saying there is always two sides of this so called "FUD" and surely all those people who shout "FUD" cant be all correct.

People do shout "FUD" when someone has a different opinion than their own and it is a well abused term especially on the free for all sites like ANN.

I hope you'll try to imlement such a website.

For example, when I was warning that Merlancia, Inc. was a fraud organization, I was a bigtime FUD'er...and yet....I don't know if an historical website would make me look like a hopeless FUD'er or simply someone trying to warn the community.

The FUD will die down, when the community is about something besides promises and prepayments.

I will be glad too, to discuss positive things.  But everytime I try to prematurely go down that road, I just can't ignore the obvious irregularities in way some of these companies  STILL do business

I hope the Amiga, Inc. problem is solved soon, and if its by their fantastic phoenix like rise from the ashes....well thats a fine solution.    I will be happy for whatever concludes the situation, so we can get back to the fun things that brought us here in the first place.

@Mike

     "say if the Amiga does get back onto a stable footing"....just the fact it's been around for a lot of years with a devoted following sure seems stable to me! :-D  :-D  :-D

@ Paul_Gadd

I've never posted to ANN, or even read a whole thread on there, a habit I don't intend to break :-)

The other thing that gets me is the sheer number of people who claim to imply they have "insider information"... companies doing stuff to do with the Amiga must have the best rumour networks on the planet :-)

Once upon a time, I posted on ANN... Once upon a time I was the biggest preacher on these boards. Now I don't give a rats patootie, because as long as it's about Amiga, I dig it... (Amiga Anywhere not included... Sorry, I think that kind of rebranding is irrelevant to the scene, and just plain lame) And ain't none of the trolls or zealots gonna take that away!

@Wayne

Couldn`t agree more mate - It is my hope when products are released we can back to the real issues - like talking about software instead of all the crap that goes or doesn`t go on around it.

Peace  :-)
