Wanted - Amiga 4000 Boxed
« on: June 29, 2006, 02:01:11 PM »
Hi everyone

I hope its ok to post this thread here - I am on the hunt again for a nice, white, unmarked Amiga 4000 in its original box, with keyboard in box and all original manuals.  Ideally an original spec machine that has not been tinkered with.

Does anyone want to sell one ?

I recently sold mine on ebay and am really gutted that I did so now.  So, instead of moaning about it I am going to buy another one ! :-)  Well, with your help I HOPE I am going to buy another one !

I am a stickler for a nice clean unmarked machine though so this will have to be mint for it to be what I want.  I don't mind if it is an 030 or an 040 but I would rather avoid the cheaper, cut down version (was this Rev D motherboard ?).

I don't know if there is such a beast out there but if so please, please, please tell me about it.  I am in the UK so it will need to be a UK spec machine and keyboard.

Thanks in dire anticipation

Retromania

You had such a setup all original with boxes? And you sold it?!  :-o

Well I guess you got a lot of money for it; you're gonna need it to buy again... Good luck!

Ouch. I feel just the opposite. IMHO these are the BEST and rarest of A4000 motherboards! Built in 68030 incase your cyberstorm ever blows up. Rev11 Buster soldered to the board, CR type battery rather than the leaky barrel type. 2Mbyte Chip RAM soldered to the motherboard!

If you get one and it is a REVD, I'll swap ya!

ANY REV board is fine with me !

I have a horrible feeling I am not going to find a nice boxed example though ! :-(  Why did I ever think of selling mine ?  Ooops - I said I wasn't going to moan ! Sorry !!!

I agree. I have/own a standard revision B system, but having a D would have been so much cooler.

if are you speaking about A4000CR, forget it.

Never got A CSMK2 working on one on these RC.

Enjoy your revB :-)

Hi Retromania, Thats a TALL order you have.

Its going to be almost impossible to find a rev.B A4000 in mint condition in box let alone a rev.D one. 80% of the A4000's out there are still beeing used and the rest are sitting in closets collecting dust and the owners dont even know how valuble they are.
Amiga 2000HD Indivision ECS
Amiga 4000D towerised OS 3.1 and 3.9 on CF cards
Indivision AGA, Mediator 4000
Video Toaster 4000 Flyer v4.3 Millenium.
202gig of video drive space & 5gig audio.

I would not replace it, but I'm just saying...a rev D would have been cooler to own. :-)

I know that finding a mint A4000 is hard enough, let alone a rev D.

That's weird. I wonder why it didn't work. Did you set clock jumpers to INT?

Ha ha, I should have started searching a long ago then.

Seriously, those boards are collectors items, so the chance of getting one of those are very slim. Most people wouldn't want to pay the price they cost anyways.

"That's weird. I wonder why it didn't work. Did you set clock jumpers to INT?"

that simple.... because there are 2 versions of A4000CR.

The one i tryed was without the 030 CPU soldered (very rare) and hence withouth the 50Mhz cristal.

Other than that, even if i understand that it was the last A4000 mobo produced, i don't find it a great deal (other small issue on Zorro autoconfig as well)

Anyway is a matter of choise/taste. I would never swap a revB with a CR one :-)
