F1GP and A1200 keyboard
« on: June 23, 2006, 01:35:32 PM »
Hi ya, I've got a couple of A1200s, (Commodore and ESCOM) but whenever I play F1GP on them while using the keyboard to drive wierd stuff happens. I can accelerate, change up gears and turn at the same time but it won't let me brake and change down gears (it's either one or the other) or brake and turn! Any ideas? Is this an A1200 issue cause I don't have any probs driving on my A500/A2000, are both my A1200s stuffed or do I just have to put up with using a joystick? The only other game that does something similar is Tornado but it's not as annoying.
Thanks in advance. :-)

the A1200 keyboards have ton of bugs, one of that bugs if that some keys will be blocked if you press them simultanely...there are no solution for that
Try using diferent keys for that actions in the game or define a config with a joystick+keys

I'm sure your A1200's are fine, but as Laser said there are some issues with the 1200 keyboard. Its also a problem on Campaign, but I've redefined the keyboard config, and used qualifier keys like Ctrl, Alt and Shift where necessary as these will work with other keys.
I seem to remember somebody saying that you can have two normal keys pressed together on the 1200 but they must be in a different bank, or row???

Other thoughts. Have you used the F1GP WHDLoad patch, this may have fixed the problem, and are you using the excellent F1GP editor that allows you to do all kinds of stuff to the game including smoothing out the framerate.

Regarding Tornado, are you using the 1200/4000 version or the ECS? Now there's a game that would rock if somebody could sort out the framerate.  :(

Oh yes.... F1GP supports an analogue joystick, have you tried that?

Thanks for the info... haven't tried the F1GP editor on the Amiga version yet, what I've been doing to make F1GP interesting is setting my car to go slow! Makes winning more worthwhile than blowing the field away by a couple of laps.
Yes I've tried using an analogue joystick but find it a bit awkward.
In regards to Tornado I've got both versions, the O/ECS is real nice on my accelerated A1200 but the AGA version needs more grunt than my '030 40 can muster up.
This is my first experience with the 1200s and I'm kinda pleased I couldn't afford them brand new, I've got nothing but happy memories of my A500... well except it could have been a bit faster... I even tried playing Torndao on it and it wasn't pretty.

Tornado AGA isn't pretty with an 060.... well, its pretty, just slow-moving.  :(

Fastexec speed it up a little I think.
