aros wont run binary 68k code but amiga os 4 and morphos do. so i left it out. an emulation part in aros though would be welcome to me.

There is AROS E-UAE.

i tried it and it crashed all the time. currently the only superb uae is winuae. annother good variant of uae is http://saimobvq.interfree.it/glUAE/index.html as it extends the OS directly and can run multiple instances from the same codebase.

boards on sale now:

amigaone: http://www.eyetech.co.uk/search.php?SearchStr=&SearchCat=AMA1 $550

$550?  The cheapest board on that page is over $975.

that are complete systems. the boards only is ca 550 (well, one ist 528 and the other 587 ).

No.  Those are UK£ prices.  The cheapest motherboard (£528) is over $975 USD (or around $1100 CAD).  But those are just the prices they used to be when they were available, which they no longer are.

He made a mistake. Be nice! :)

You know that Mr Szabo has made some useful software for the Amiga over the years such as XFR.

http://www.psi5.com/~silva/afilter/

and also a searchable interface to the Amiga Demo Encyclopedia which is very useful

http://kestra.exotica.org.uk

... on the amigaone thing. If you want AmigaOS compatible computer with some faster ppc hardware, then in my opinion Pegasos/Morphos is the only way to go. Although I would prefer to be able to run Morphos on something like a Mac Mini :-)

hello buzz, good to see you here. only thing that prevents me from buying a pegasos is....     well, i want firefox/java and amiga os 4 and i guess that some other board will work with os 4 first. amithlon would be fine also. i guess these are the things that EVERYBODY here wants. btw, xfr works on morphos, that means it is correctly emulated.

There is a morphos browser based on Konqeror being developed. I don't think there is a version of firefox for amigaos4. There have been projects, but none of them I think are active (Correct me if I'm wrong).

I'm also not convinced amigaos4 offers anything more than morphos in terms of functionality. Infact I read you can run much amigaos4 software on morphos (Correct me if I'm wrong) :)

In a real world where people have logical business ideas, I would be able to go out and buy a pegasos, or other PPC hardware, and buy amigaos4 and morphos for it.

But this is amigaworld (snigger), where everything is upside down.

Those are pretty nice... however those blue arrows on scrollbars stick out like a sore thumb.

Yes I'm very picky :-P

Haven't heard anything recent like that.  Maybe a new bug, AROS folks always could use info on bugs, btw.  So when you do find something, please report it.  :-)

You are wrong. See here and here. Note that Amizilla isn't for AmigaOS4 only, it's for all Amiga-like OSes. Also Ibrowse is still in development (at a painfully slow pace) and Paihia is a completely new browser we might see at the end of the year. A new version of AWeb is also supposed to be based on Konqueror. However, I think that they're waiting for KHTML to be ported to Morphos first before porting it across to OS4 and 68k.

Consider yourself corrected. :-)

Oh.. well. I know about those. and if those are your examples I do not think I am wrong.. Amizilla does not seem active (Certainly going by the CVS and news on site). I personally don't think it will ever be finished, But I would love to be proved wrong.

The Pegasos 3 will be Genesi's new dual CPU / Quad-core G5 machine.  There will also be an upgrade scheme for current Pegasos II owners (trade in your PegII board for a big discount).

There isn't any new AmigaOne on the horizon.  If there was then it would have to come from Eyetech, as they own the AmigaOne trademark.  The problem is that Mai no longer design hardware, and the only other company currently making desktop PPC hardware (apart from Apple) is Genesi.

In an ideal world :-)  OS4 would fly on a quad-core G5 machine.

Yes, Apple will keep selling the G5-based Powermacs (and XServe's) until August when they switch them to the new Intel Core 2 Duo, leaving PPC behind completely.

Do we really need more vapourvare, or even more "test-balloons" launched by Genesi?

First get the Efika out.

i want it, i want it, i want it!

the universe structures are all ideal in order to let life be possible on earth. this ideality is also present in the computer scene and that means we are going to get this quad-core g5 board with amiga os 4.
