i use grabkick and never had problems.
try blizzmagic to softkick, i used it before i discover blizkick and it was ok, just without all of those goodies of blizkick. just to see if the machine can softkick at all.

Sounds like the MaxTransfer settting is too high for your drive, it normally shows up as files over a certain size being corrupt.
Have a look at Warren Block's A1200 FAQ for more info and suggested sizes.

hmm...first time I'm having this problem maybe

I tried changing the maxtransfer in hdtoolbox but the changes aren't saved
