Amiga 3000 problems
« on: January 17, 2006, 08:43:10 AM »
Hi,
I have an A3000 with problems.I cant read from its drive. When I power up the Amiga the drive spins and the screen is pink. When I insert a disk(bootable disk-Workbench)then displays the classic screen with the animated disk.I've tried another disk drive(a brand new high density) but with the same results. Can anyone help me?Sorry for my bad English...

We really need you to spell it out more clearly to help diagnose...  :-?

Are you sure the screen is "pink" or is it Red?

Ok i fix the disk drive and now reads ok but when I close the case of the A3000 the machine does not start and displays some lines in the monitor...The machine has an A3640(68040 processor).I've tried to remove it and work the machine with its 68030 but without luck. The machine has Workbench 3.1.

you have to change some jumpers to run the internal processor. do you have any zorro cards installed? have you checked the cables leading to your floppy and hard drive? check all chips including ram to make sure everything is seated properly.
Oh yeah?!?
Well your stupid bit is set,
and its read only!

Now the machine seems to work(after unplugged and plug again the '040 processor)but seems that disk drive is dead...I have a HD drive from an A1200 but does not fit inside the A3000.Which jumpers must be change in order to work the A3000 with its internal CPU-68030.Thanks

Three jumpers on the A3000 mainboard must be set to INT, that means jumper (J102)BRDCLK, jumper (J104)CPUCLK and jumper (J100)QUADCLK.

go to http://www.amiga-hardware.com/ and have a look at Amiga Models & Clones section. the HD from the a1200 if it is internal is IDE, the a3000 has a scsi controler build in so it is not match
