My PC isn't cutting edge, but it's no slouch. Here we go.

MSI MB(forget the model #) KT333 chipset
AthlonXP 2000+
1.2Gb RAM
120Gig HD(7200 rpm)
SB Live!
All-In-Wonder-Radeon VE
19" monitor
Yamaha 16X CDRW
Sony 40X DVD
WintendoXP

This is my computerand my entertainment center for my bedroom. I have DirectTV(satilite) into the AIW and a VCR. I have audio out to a home stereo(soon to be surround).

Like I said, not totally geek but I'm trying:-P Besides the obvious(Nforce2, faster CPU, better AIW etc) what else geek is there to do? I am planing on hooking a phonograph into the SBLive to rip my old vinyl. What else? Home automation? Seems like alot of work, but I'm open. PDA with IRD to the PC? Horn rimmed glasses? USB synthetic imitation vagina? :-o

hehe just looking for fun or creative ideas. Trying to put the FUN into PC computing like there used top be on Amiga computing.
Someone has to state the obvious and that someone is me!

@ Redrumloa:

:-? How about one of those vinyl pocket protectors?  Nothing says "Geek!" like one of those.  You could hook up an IR or bluetooth link from it to your PC.  Then, it could order replacement pens from Office Depot or similar every time the ink in one of your pens ran low....

I do not mean to piss on anyone's parade here, but that is more or less (more or less) what every pc (l)user will have to play counterstrike (or whatever is in atm).

What you want to be geeky, even in the pc-world, is an old machine, like a p100 or so and then customize it like crazy, clock everything, buy something cryo-like and mod the mb. After all, if you fail replacement components are practically free. Now that's geeky and cool in my opinion :-)

People building their pc's into portable beer cases are geeky too.

Sincerely,

-Kenneth Straarup.

Sorry for being a spoilsport, but I don't think a PC & Windows upgrade question is on topic here at Amiga.org ..

If I want to read about upgrading PCs (which I don't, even though I own a few ;-), I go to some PC forum.

Thanks and apologies for stating my view. (you can never be too careful around here :-)

Seeing as this is amiga.org, surely the hardware issues and discussions forum is for Amiga related hardware issues and discussions, and this post should be in Talk-about?

Hi,
Quote
what else geek is there to do?

Welcome to the world of "moddin", Add windows (The type which dont crash, the plastic ones in the case), lights, UV fans and water coolin..
Have a look at coolcasemods.com.

(I bought a window and UV light/fan for my A4K but havent fitted it yet, I intend to cut out an Amiga logo and pot rivet the window to the case)

Another geek thing to do is go to a LAN even, You lock yourself along with 999 other people and frag each other for 3 days none stop. That looks kinda cool  :-D

I think that listing a PC spec on a website is the height of geek, and that no further geekiness is required. ;-)
