PPaint in a window?
« on: December 04, 2005, 08:10:01 PM »
Is it possible to get PPaint to display in a window on a P96 screen? (ie Workbench). I've tried looking in the options, and a Google search, but I can't find out whether it's even possible.

There is a way..sort of

Get a hack called   screenInAWindow (I think thats the name)

What it does is let you peek (from WB) at any program behing the WB screen..............it even lets you control it.......its kind of Like RemoteDesktop or VNC ecxept right on your own computer :-)

its cool......its like having  hole in your WorkBench to see what program is running..or the progress of a rendering if thats what your doing.

theres a few hacks that do this.

One could also use a TV-Tuner card to get a similar effect.

connect the Comp output of the amiga to the comp input of the
tv card... it works, it works well but using screens is the
far better solutions for using PPaint. these 'hacks' are only
for programs that doesn't retarget to P96/CGX screens.

Thanks for the replies guys. I was thinking of getting a TV card for my Mediator and feeding the Amiga's 15KHz output in to it, but this won't work with WHDLoad games so I don't see the point. Plus, for PPaint I may want to work in higher resolutions on the Voodoo.

also when feeding the comp out of the amiga to a tv-tuner you loose A LOT of quality, not suitable for drawing programs...
