Take 2 software for linetest
« on: November 01, 2005, 03:02:28 PM »
Hello. Is there anyone that has “Take 2” the line testing software? If not, does anyone know where to get it from?
I would prefer Take 2 for Amiga and not Take 5 for the PC.
Thank you for your help.

Thanx Cecilia for getting me the link for Take5 for PC. Through this brilliant people in Belgium (I think) I have now the download link for the rare and gratest line testing tool ever. This is the link for the amiga version Take2 I have received from the people who designed this so brilliant software: www.cellsoft.be/downloads/take2.zip
Thank you Geert Vergauwe.  :-P

Um.forgive my Ignorance.but what exactly does this program do?

I have it somewhere and I got it because I was under the impression that it can digitize animation in black and white lines..........kinda like a sketch of an animation type of look.

Can it do this?  what is it usefull for as I am into Video with the Amiga.  I need more Video Tools :-)

EDIT: Oh, and if indeed I can digitize with it........can I use a VLAB Digitizer? (Parrallel port version)

CD32 is actually the best Amiga ever made by Commodore!...

Take_2 is a 'linetester' or 'penciltester' program. It is used by (traditional) animators to check and finetune the timing of their pencil drawings. It simulates how the animation will look when the animation is broadcasted or projected. It has tools to alter the timing and order of the images in a scene.

In short, it is a specialized tool most suited for animators working on paper. They 'digitize' their drawings with a video camera and see it play back at the correct speed (no rendering needed, btw).

Take_2 only works with the (Rombo/Quantum)VidiAmiga brand of digitizers and is of little use without it. Hence the search for these devices (and Amigas) by animators that want the use the program.

Some state that Take_2 was the standard linetester during the nineties, but it dimished along with the Amiga. A pity, but that's life, i guess :-(

Ok I still dont fully understand..............can one digitize Full color pics with Take 2 and a Vidi?  and how many frames per second can I capture with Take 2? or do I have to digitize one frame at a time?
can I just load anims that I already have into Take 2?  what format does it have to be?  anyone know?

It is possible to digitize full color pics with Take_2.
You will need a Vidi RT model or an additional RGB-splitter for older models.

Take_2 captures one frame at the time, that's the whole point. It can capture in 'VCR'-mode which is as fast as the images from the Vidi come in, normally about 6 images per second (in greytones, mind you).

You can import and export anim files, any format. When imported they are split into separate images, as far as i  remember (and i am the sole programmer, lol).

Hi fybulator.

I want to transfer a line test from an Amiga 1500 to my eMac onto ToonBoom. I have not touched my 1500 for six or seven years and was never very techie with it. I just used the Take2.

Have you any ideas about how to transfer the linetest?

I'm beginning to resign myself to shooting the entire linetest again. Thats if I can get my B/W security camera to work on the eMac.

Be interested to  hear your comments.

Cheers
