not sure what your question is, but a "god-father" or god-mother" is people (sometimes but not always related to the parents) asked to have this special relationship with the child. It's not necessarily another "parent" and it really depends on the people involved. But it's kinda like another person who can look after the child should something happen to the parents. It has no legal power, however. it's just a custom. and can generally be very loose.
if one is catholic, these persons are present during the child's baptism. (If i recall they hold the child during the ceremony)
my "god-father" was my father's brother and my "god-mother" is my mother's sister. but it can be a friend.
