What I expected was to pay what the auction stated. I would have paid the $55.00 if I had agreed to it when I first read the auction.

The fact that the buyer listed it one way and changed terms after the fact is what I refused to agree with, and that's just the way I am.  Everyone has their quirks I guess:-).

I got screwed the same way.  I won a special edition C64 pack and paid $30 shipping (which should have been enough).  The seller didn't send for a month or so and then finally says I need to pay $20 more because she mis-calculated.  I refused and asked for a refund.  After another month still nothing so I filed complaints with PayPal, eBay/SafeHarbor, and my credit card company.  PayPal and CC couldn't do anything because too much time had passed.  eBay didn't care that I had been ripped off (ie. I didn't have any product, or my money), and basicly took the sellers side.  Eventually, I got the C64 but without the extras that were offered in the auction.  (As well as a retaliation negative feedback.)  Good luck with your situation, it seems the buyers are always on the losing end.
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(

Well I have been on ebay since 1997 and I sometimes had to pay more or less from the listed shipping cost.  See the problem is you have to enter an amount before you actually box up and take it to the Post Office and know the buyers zip code so you never really know the real ammount.  Some sellers take advantage of it and just charge more than it would be, thus pocketting the difference.  When I sell I enter an estimate and always tell the buyer what the real amount is after the auction has ended.  And I also had the same thing happen with real lost ship cost and when the seller informed me of hight I said well no problem, as long as they were not raping me.  Surely you knew it would cost more than $5 to ship it right?

I see your point though, but since it was a steal I would of gone for it.  Now if it was a single boxed Amiga game or something with the shipping charge over the top I would of said, see ya!

Actually I have included shipping FREE on some of my auctions.  Sometimes that can attract more buyers and higher bid amounts. I might sell an item at $100.00 and charge 25.00 in actual shipping costs, or low ball the shipping at $5.00 and it sells for $150.00 or more and I eat the difference.

Anyway I wouldn't have let ALL 5 auctions run the course without a correction if they were mine.  I would have also offered to split the difference in shipping with the buyer at $25.00 each if I couldn't afford to eat it.

Anyway the seller and I resolved it and we both learned something from it. In the future I will question low shipping costs before I bid on an item, my fault.

I probably should have just paid it, but another deal will come along someday. Thanks to TJ and everyone for all of their input.
