But believe me, it's definitely not socialist.

They are run by the members, for the benefit of the members, and all profit is distributed to the members.

Please tell me how this is not socialist?

Well firstly I don't get so much as one cent from the co-op of which I am a member. One reason for that is that it is "not for profit".

A coop is normally a private organization. And if it is, then according to the definition of socialism, it is not socialist.

And that is why I say it's not.

Then it is not a co-op.  It may say it is, but it isn't.

Wrong.

I shall repeat part of what I quoted earlier:-

Quote

 * Co-operatives share their profits with their members (the dividend) whereas plcs return profits to the holders of their capital.
* Shares that members have in a co-operative are of fixed value and withdrawable. Shares are non-withdrawable in plcs and their value fluctuates.
* Co-ops are constituted under the Industrial and Provident Societies Act whereas plcs are constituted under company law.

Quote

And that is why I say it's not.

Doesn't make you right though.

Here in Sweden we have a whole chain of stores founded on the principles of Socialism. Since they are the largest (possibly the 2nd largest)chain of supermarkets in the country, I suppose they are doing something right...
Beating the dead horse since 2002.

Are anal clamps used to restrict blood flow to haemorroids?

Is that a euphimism for auto-erotic aspyhixiation?

It's quite popular in Australia I hear.  Ask Michael Hutchence! ;-)

"Ten dollar fooky, five dollar sucky, three dollar wanky. Me love you long time!"

This would be considered a racist joke in many circles... Including mine.
