Use an LVD SCSI drive with CS PPC
« on: June 17, 2005, 08:01:47 PM »
Looks like my tiny 4.3 gig UW SCSI drive is full now on my A4000 (knew at start this would happen fast) and I have a 10k Quantum Atlas 18.2 gig U160 LVD drive here which I want to hook up instead.
Does this drive work with the CS PPC UW SCSI?

LVD is backwards compatible with UW SCSI so it whould work just fine.
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(

I'm using a 9 gig WD LVD drive on mine.  The only problem I had was when I hooked up some 50 pin devices on the bus at the same time.  Then I had to set the LVD id's in the bootmenu to 8 bit or the bus would lock up.  Was using active termination at the end of the cable and active upper byte terminators for the 50 pin devices but the LVD drives wouldn't work in 16bit mode unless I took the 50 pin off.  The setup worked fine with some 9 gig Quantum and IBM UltraWide drives (non-lvd) so I don't think it was a problem with cabling termination.  Just that cyberstorm is getting old and lvd drives are newer...
My 2 cents...
