Workbench version 2.1
« on: June 06, 2005, 05:05:56 AM »
Howdy all, I have a couple of questions about WB v2.1. I bought an A500 and it came with all 5 WB v2.1 disks. At first I didn't notice this but then got to checking it out on the Amiga History Guide. I read that v2.1 was an upgrade only with quit a few enhancements, but only if you had KS 2.x ROM. I also noticed that there is a chip in the following pic, near the bottom. My question is; did this chip come in the box? If so, how can I tell if my A500 has this chip installed without cracking the case open? Also, if I have this ROM installed, what are the major enhancements that this ROM and WB 2.1 enable and how can I take advantage of them?

BTW, Amiga.org is a great resource and I am glad to be able to get into the Amiga line of computers, finally. I got out of the Commodore craze when it simply became cost prohibitive by the late 80's. I've been working with Intel computers since 1985 mostly just because it was the only way I could afford a hard drive back then. $250 for a Seagate 20meg HD   :-o     Crazy!  Thanks for your answers in advance!  :-)

Yes the ROM chip came in that kit as you need it to use the disks.  If you have Kickstart 2 you will have a purple screen that looks like this:

Going Bananas over AMIGAs since 1987...

Looking for Fusion Fourty PNG ROMs V3.4?
