The word may not be confused, as i carefully read everything Eyetech, Hyperion, Mai and Amiga are doing. I could be a bit wrong, though. But answer me this. Why is Eyetech chosen as the main hardware manufacture for the Amiga to develop AmigaOne? I know for sure that Eyetech will play a key role for future development of new AmigaOne-motherboards...But it's true that Mai Logic did all the work...That does explain the alliance with Eyetech in this..But the last statement was that AmigaOne was successively betatested in Taiwan, and got a brand new Firmware which Hyperion is responsible for..Eyetech may sell the boards, but they are not limiting themselves to sales..I happen to hear that Alan Redhouse of Eyetech has great plans for the future of the AmigaOne...

Similiar to the great plans of Irving Gould for the original Amigas?  :-P

(Sorry, couldn't resist!  Please view as humor and not flamewar!)

they weren't.  They paid for the right to brand a motherboard as AmigaONE.  Nowhere did they claim to manufacture Amiga's.

All those extra boards sound expensive how do you know they will be supported? Good luck finding drivers from open source project sites, you are a brave man. I hope you have broadband for all your downloading needs.8-)

@Downix and Kronos

Can I just ask you?  What are you actually doing here?  I mean, while I disagree with what Helgis is saying, I can`t agree with the way you just pour scorn on anything anyone ever seems to say.

Everytime I read a post by you guys, it reeks of negativity and cynicism and I know it is starting to annoy people.

I`m not trying to start a flamewar here (but I probably will) but can I at least get you to ask yourselves one thing, if the only contribution you can make is to constantly put a downer on things, isn`t it time you found a new hobby?

I'm sure Downix and Kronos are fully capable of defending themselves ;) but why are you posting what you just said in this thread? Several people including Downix and Kronos posted factual corrections to a couple of incorrect statements. There were no opinions as far as I could see (although in my eyes it's a GOOD thing that Helgis' statements about some of the Teron boards being "customised" in some way are incorrect).

I hope there aren't that many people that see value-neutral facts as "downers" or "scorn"... That'd be scary.

Wasn`t as much related to this thread as any other - its not meant to be a personal attack, so if it is read like that I apologise - it just seems (and this is my opinion:) that everytime I read a thread and they make a posting, it appears to be quite negative, it could be I haven`t read the threads where they have made a postitive contribution.

Just my cents worth, and not particularily relevant to this thread I guess  :-D

And believe me, I know they can defend themselves but hopefully they won`t need to since I was asking some genuine questions and not trying to be insulting,

In anticipation

After reading the different messages, i have learnt that Mai Logic was the one who actually developed the Teron boards, and allianced with Eyetech to let them deliver the motherboards. Eyetech might has told Mai Logic what changes to the motherboards they expected, and Mai Logic may have done the changes themselves. I know it's mostly software fixes that have been done to the motherboards, after branding them AmigaOnes, which Eyetech as i understand got the right to do:-). Mai Logic must have done the modifications we see on the current design of the AmigaOne XE..

I also believe that Mai Logic will make a NEW version of the Teron boards, to test the new Articia P when it's finished..This is what i believe Alan Redhouse is going to tell, because with the long term partnership with Mai Logic, the future of the AmigaOne is secured..

It's too much focus on problems and fustrations of waiting for our PPC-system than instead thinking about how they will be like when we get them, what they will be capable of doing and how well they will do the things we all love. No matter who is doing what. The point is to bring the very best of new Amiga-technology to the Amiga community..

Hope this message will help.. :-)  :-)  :-)

Hello Helgis75,

First, I'd like to say, consder a 1 gig ram SIMM. Later, buy 1 more (as soon as you can  :-D ).

Second, I'm getting mine with 2 Gigs and a RAID card for INSTANT bootup :-D :-D (well, I hope under 10 seconds, IF a raid driver is made).

My take on this is (I am reading between the lines):

AInc. found Eyetech, who was willing to PAY for someone to make a custom (or at LEAST a slightly modified board). AInc. found Hyperion, who was willing to make the OS. Then ALL 3 of them had input on what they wanted on the board, based also on what Hyperion was capable of, SW wise. Looks like they even ended up having to code some firmware someone else was hired to do, but they failed (guess they weren't Amigans).

And, obviously, a 100 setbacks later, soon A1 will be out!!!!

AmigaOne! I'm not ready for second best!

So I guess that A500, 600, 1000, 2000, CDTV, CD32, are pure garbage then? Thanks for posting here.

Ha, sell more boards and bigger than Eyetech!
I'm afraid your wrong Mr.Kronos ...... Terrasoft is exactly 3 people with a fancy website.
In regards to what they've been up to ...... it will all come out in the wash !!!!

wah... Computer envy...

"Black Chieftech Dragon ??"  :-P  Those HWare manufacturers surely know how to speak to young lads :))

I'm juste wondering : Who's in charge of dev. The drivers for ALL the video cards you mentionned, AND the SBLive sound card ? I mean, those are slow-coming (not so slow, but heck, slower than wintel drivers) to Linux, so I'm really wondering...

Is all this software ready ??
