Well, Danish and Swedish (and Norwegian too, for that matter) are basically the same language. There are a few differences, but as long as it doesn't go too fast, Swedes and Danes speak without the need of an interpreter.

Dutch is basically English, French, German and Danish mixed up. :-P

I'd say that English is German, French, Latin, and Old Norsk mixed up. :-D

That could be why dutch is quite easy to read for an Englishman.
