List of chip releases
« on: April 05, 2005, 08:30:41 PM »
I am working on selling an Amiga 3000 and I want to make sure the receipient gets my newest chipset (since I have done swapping, tinkering, etc)

So where is a list of the order of chip releases (Ramsey, Paula, etc etc) posted?

    Thanks!

    Greg / Doc Clu

Well,

On the 3000 we often found this:

Paula : 8364R7 (never changed !)
Buster : R.7
Agnus : 8372B (if anyone know the difference with 8375 please let me know !)
DMAC 2
RAMSEY 4 (not sure of my poor old memory !)
SCSI chip rev 4
Kikstart from 1.4 (beta) to 3.1 or 3.04
Denise: ECS 8362rev 8

The Big Old Chip List, Tbocl.lha might help, but it is in hypertext mode.

Yep, and for those "merely curious" like me, here is the list...

Short:    TheBigOldChipList- AmigaGuide of Custom Chips
Author:   Robert C. Reiswig (vgr@best.com)
Uploader: Robert C. Reiswig (tbocl@vgr.com)
Type:     docs/hyper
Version:  1.6

TBOCL - The Big Old Chip List, Version 1.6 In AmigaGuide format

Way back in 1989 when I worked for CBM I kept a paper that had a list
of custom chips that I ran across in my work. The list got a lot
of request and kept growing. When CBM when under I moved
the list to AmigaGuide and planed to upload it to Aminet. Here
it is, years later then I hoped to upload it.

It is a simple idea. It is a AmigaGuide sorted by the chip name
and its function. Within that there is information on the full
chip name, CBM Part Number and Machines used in.

Covers machines from A500 to A4000T (and AA3000/A3000+)
and CDTV(II) to CD32.

If you can ADD to this list of Amiga custom chips or find something
incorrect please email me the chip information to: tbocl@vgr.com

rev1-7: Doesn't know about Z3 DMA at all
rev9:   Can allow more than 1 bus master if device knows about

rev11:  Can only allow 1 bus master no matter what

The Super DMAC 390537-04 is for the A3000 and is used with the -07 Ramsey
chip.  The main need for information on these has to do with using A3640
boards in A3000's.  DMAC-04 and Ramsey-07 is the most stable configuration
for running this board.  If one is upgraded, the other one must be replaced
as well.  I don't think Ramsey-07 will work with SDMAC-02 (DMAC 390537-02
should also be labeled Super DMAC, since the original DMAC chip is found in
the A2000), nor will SDMAC-04 with Ramsey-04.  There is also a SDMAC-01
found in very early A3000's but this is a very hot chip and very prone to
failure (hence the upgrade).
