@EDS.bod

windsorrows is a pain of broken glass where every crack you fix lets the next weakest one become your Albatross. Enjoy!

Amiga! Leave at your own peril!

P.S. Did that make any sense at all?

So I guess that A500, 600, 1000, 2000, CDTV, CD32, are pure garbage then? Thanks for posting here.

@EDS.bod:

its sad that you are leaving but i understand it also in a way, but in 2000/1 alot of people left and sold their gear etc , they are wanting to go back to amiga now...

he problem u have with that you sold all your equipment, damn... thats like really sad.. you sold it just so that you had money to buy os4/a1 on the release date... i am glad i never even thinked of dooing that (for my own hw).

For going the linux way... linux is crap..., when u can run it...it might be ok after u tried it alot ..but running it as  main os....forget that :)

you have 1 single option left and that is the morphos/*pegasos way , which we all know is in beta and the hw is from the DCE plant ...
need i tell more?..

i think u will regret buying a pc and i think you will regret buying an pegasos (eventually atleast (when there is a hw problem etc...)
and for the a1, there is no aos on it.... i have ordered one...but i wont use it if os4 is not out... as linux aint for me...

history will repeat itself...

good luck!!
Whats up with all the hate!

Well, I ordered my PC gear today - Gigabyte GA-7VAXP motherboard, AMD XP2400+ processor, two 512mb PC2100 DDR modules and an ATi Radeon 9700 card all for the princely sum of £540.

I for once hope that the A1XE-G4's aren't sent out tommorrow, at least not until I've cancelled my order with Eyetech.

I hope to see you all again in a couple of years ;-)

Hehe, I never left. But I understand why broken promises would leave many disillusioned and betrayed. Anyway, I'm not really commiting to anything. I am simply watching from a distance, and always open to an Amiga resurgence.

Of course, when that may be is anyones guess. Maybe at this rate, my grandchildren will be running OS4 one day. lol!

Oh, how I love diging up old threads from the past :-)

Well, as some of you suggested, I'm back!  Actually I never really left, I've been checking Aorg every week :-)

Currently enjoying playing around with Amiga emulators - even have OS3.9 running on my HTC Kaiser PDA with PocetUAE - not incredibly fast but still fun.

So, I'm now in a much better financial situation so I'm hunting around for anyone selling any kind of A! so I can play with OS4.

See you all later :-)

Good to see people returning to the scene.
(Or at least starting to post again ;-) )

I'm curious about your nick.
What does it mean or where does it come from?

EDS is an IT company. They mostly provide outsourced solutions to a wide variety of companies and government departments (in England anyway)

EDS = Electronic Data Systems.

Founded by H. Ross Perot, the one-time "spoiler" US presidential candidate famous for maladroit language abilities - not unlike the current White House occupant;  the difference being that Ross Perot is actually intelligent.  btw, "H. Ross Perot" is an anagram for "Short Poser".  :)

EDS.bod --

You'll be fighting against me for the damn OS4 machine. :)

I sold my Micro last summer when I got a good-but-cheap used PC (and so I could pay the rent -- my company screwed up my wife's payroll, and together we didn't have enough to make the rent payment) and thought I wouldn't look back...then I tried AmiKit and really, REALLY started missing OS4.

And now that my wife and I are both gainfully employed again, I'm going to look for an A1 again....

Hmm, I thought the nick might be something to do with them.
I sort of thought perhaps not though, as I wouldn't admit to working for them.

A mate of mine was told that if you applying for a job in that industry and EDS is on your CV, it counts against you.

Don' know how true that is.

They have a reputation for paying lower than average salaries and very aggressive management.  Think Walmart of IT.

At one time EDS had a rep for being a strait-laced outfit. Even going so far as to controlling their employee's conduct after hours. I was a field engineer supporting GM's computers at the time EDS took over GM's data processing department. Several people made the choice to go back to the plant rather than become EDS employees. I think it was more motivated by financial (pension) reasons than anything.

After a stint as an Amiga dealer I got a job as a contract employee at EDS. They seemed to have mellowed a bit over the years. ;-) You couldn't find a better bunch of folk to work with.

Yep I work for EDS as a programmer/web designer/system support and have done for 10 years.

No idea why I should be embarrased about working for EDS - nice area I work in ans I certainly don't consider my wages to be below market average - hence why I'm ready to sepnd some money on some new Amiga gear :-)  having said that, I didn't go into EDS directly - I worked for the government IT department - ITSA - and we were privatised (outsourced) to EDS in 2000 - maybe that's why it's a nice area to work in - most of the staff here are essentially civil servants.

Also, if working for EDS is bad for your CV, somebody need to tell the three companies this year that have tried to paoch me.  Although how they think they can poach me by offering me a lower salary and a greater commute to work is beyond me :-?

I'll post some video soon of OS3.9 running on my HTC Kaiser :-)
