dude, seriously, if you payed £14 for that PSU I would strongly urge you to start looking for a new one quick smart - cheep PSU's tend to not be of good build quality and given its key role in your computer is not something I would EVER skimp on again, take it from someone who lost one of the best systems he has ever owned due to a cheep PSU dying horribly.

Hum,
i suppose he could change it two or three times a year for the same price as one `decent` 550W unit....

@adz
Tnx for correction, I forgot the kt600 doesn’t support dual channel ..

The main point of getting DDR 400 mem is that it will run cooler and more reliably, and you up the CAS rating to 2.5 or 2…and there is always the option to upgrade the 333 cpu later onto a 400mhz data rate one…
Check My Build...

But either way, 512mb is the minimum i`d run an xp machine with.

come to think about Clive Sinclair, claiming his speccy (equipped with 48kb mem) has enough mem to control a nuclear power plant (wich isn't far from the truth, I can say from a bit experience)

Exactly,

The computations to run a power plant or land on the moon, are just a `walk in the park` compared with the fiendishly difficult task of running XP...

yes, I guess the amount of data being generated by pictures and sound explains a bit.

But still...

:inquisitive:
You designed the control systems for Dodewaard and Borssele?

Should we all go and dig fallout shelters now?  :-P

I seem to recall Sir Clive, actually making that Claim about the ZX81... which does require a slight stretch of the imagination coupled with a leap of faith all served up with a pinch of salt and a healthy dose of increduality...

That said, my CPU has more memory on it than my first Amiga, and Still XP wants more

Thats a nice little Athlon rig you have there, though I don't envy your cabling ability ;-) The case itself looks quite nice, what brand is it?

Hardware choices rock, but as adz alluded to, your cabling is... ahem unique to say the least ;-)

Remember - Cable ties are your friends, and can be used to hide a multitude of sins :-D

Another good tip is to route cables under the motherboard, assuming you have sufficient clearance of course.
