Are you refering to this:

AmigaOS4 Feature Set: Release 1

(13-Jan-2003) Amiga is pleased to publish this first version of the feature set of the up and coming AmigaOS4.0. The document will undergo revision in subsequent issues but because of the massive demand for information made by the public, we have decided to release it in its current state.

Or this:

Server Move

(27-Feb-2003) All Amiga servers will be down on Saturday, March 1 for approximately 8-12 hours while our host moves equipment to a new data center.

 :-?  :-?  :-?
AKA ED-209 on IRC...

Do you suppose that other companies *never* change servers, or they have just figured out a way to do it without being down for 12 hours....

p.s. thats a facetious question...but I'm going to rush to answer it quickly...the answer is, they know how to transfer a server with only a blip (less than one minute) of downtime.

I don't really think it's that big of a deal if they're down twelve hours. It's not like the world is losing out on a hundred huge web site updates during that time.  :-)

Yeah, but sod's law, that's when they'll have to update the site.  And because they're changing server they won't be able to do it, then they'll forget about it. :-P

Sure, it is easy:

A few days prior to the transfer, in the DNS Zone file, set the TTL to be very very low.

Buy a new server, install it at the new place. Configure it like the first server.

Update the DNS Zone file to point at the new server, reinstate the longer TTL.

Remove the old server.

Et Voila! Near-Instant changeover.

This doesn't work when you are physically moving the server from one place to another, which appears to be what Amiga Inc are doing.
