How to make Bvision work ???
« on: February 23, 2003, 08:25:58 PM »
I used to have a towered A1200 with Z4 board and CV64/3D but that A1200 gave up on me so I disassembled as much as I could. Now I have bought another towered A1200 with a megacool PPC 233 Mhz/68060 and a Bvision.       Two hd's were connected to the internal port, so the first thing I did was to get me a Z4 Powerflyer from Elbox and mounted it in the (Elbox) tower. Problem : after turning the thing on it didn't recognize anything and got the bootlogo. So I tried my own (old) 20 Gb hd with the 68030 stuff on. It worked. Cool. But now I still can't use those other hd's, certainly not the one with the boot partition on. So now I'm stuck with my old hd. The good thing is that I mounted my CV64/3D again because I don't know how to mount the software for the Bvision. I have a Cybergrafix V4 cd here but they don't seem to support this card. For the moment I can help myself pretty well because the CV64/3D is connected to a 19" monitor, but still I wanna get that other gfx card to work. Hope to get 3 monitors connected to the same computer, standard AGA + CV64/3D + Bvision. But, can this work together ?? I read somewhere that a Z2 busboard can only handle a maximum of 8 Mb, so two big gfx cards won't work together and one will then disappear and won't be noticed by the system. But I have seen that the Bvision is not connected to the Zorro busboard, so that rule doesn't count, does it ?   :-?

There should be drivers for the BVision at vgr.com/cvppc/.

I'm not sure If I understand you correctly, However as a long time A1200T BVision user I can try and help you a little bit.

BVision
BVision is connected DIRECTLY off the PPC card. As far as I am aware it cannot be connected anywhere else. Then again I haven't got a Z4 so I wouldn't know, but I would assume not.

CGX 4.
Cybergraphics 4 works fine, try the latest available patch downloadable from the vgr website.

However, I must point out that as far as I know, the way Cybergraphics works, means that you cannot have the Bvision and AGA running at the same time. (no pass through?)

Install CGX4. (then install latest update) once done, you must run the CGXmode program stored in prefs.

Select and configure all the screen modes you will want to use. - Think from 8 bit screens (for games) up to 1152 x 900 in 16bit mode and up to 1056 x 768 on 24bit screens
(off course this does depend on your monitor - BE CAREFULL or you could kill your monitor!)

Please note that you will have to have a monitor plugged into the BVision card to see the screenmodes as you test them.

Once done, save changes and re-boot, you Bvision monitor driver will be updated in Devs/Monitors

For myself I find 16bit 1024 x 768 perfectly good enough.

Once you have done that, look in prefs and select your prefered resolution. That's it. AGA will close and all output will now be through the BVision.

As to the CV64 - I don't know. But I would guess the way CGX is set up, it precludes any chance of having two graphics cards running. Of course, I could be wrong and someone else may know better...

I hope this has helped you in some way.

Good luck.
YNWA!

in order to get my BVision card working I had to connect 0V&5V directly from the power supply to the accelerator board.

To do this, I cut the fan wires, and reconnected them together with the power supply. Then it rocked!!

I used to have 2 Voodoos (3 and 4) working great at the same time in my Setup with CGX4, Surf in the NET in V3 and plaing Divx in V4, no problems.

About the BVison we need to remenber, the power comming from the 1200 mobo is not enought to make a BPPC+BV work, so a extra power can be pluged in the internal Disk Drive power connector in the 1200 Mobo comming directly from the power supply, and then try to turn on.

The Bvision has worked  before at the previous owner, but I had problems getting his harddrives back to work where the correct software was on. Now I tried a cd of Cybergfx V4 but don't seem to get a lot out of it ... gonna search some patches or so ...

A: Send it to DCE for repair...
