From the not quite Amiga, but related category;-)

I am still looking for a C128D in excelent condition. Must work 100%, with little or no blemishes. No yellowing. Will pay a fair price, must be packed for shipping properly and insured. Lemme know.

Mods: If too off topic feel free to move. IIRC Wayne was always pretty tolerant of Amiga's older siblings, but I'll understand if I'm wrong:-)

-Edit-
Also looking for many CMD products.

@redrumloa

I've got one of those! It's nearly perfect (no scratches, yellowing, etc.).

Modifications include: JiffyDos; toggle switch for internal/external drive as device 8; stereo sid. The mods were done by Ray Day (whom you know if you were a "serious" Commodore user).

Add-ons include: CMD RamLink (with 4 megs? -- can't remember); 1 meg 1750 REU (also a Ray Day mod); CMD HardDisk with 52 meg Quantum drive (the HD isn't "perfect" since I got it "used" for $500!).

I've also got lots of other add-ons, etc. (most of which I can't remember right now) -- 1902A monitor, 1581 disk drive, swiftlink, handyscanner, ComputerEyes, etc. etc.)

Also have "boxes" of reference books, manuals, proramming guides, etc. and just about EVERYTHING ever released for GEOS.

I went on a "spending spree" when Commodore stopped making 64/128's because I wasn't sure how long things would still be available.
-----

The punch line is that now I NEVER use it! The last time it was powered up was to copy off all the partitions on the hard drive for use with Vice.

At that time, it seemed like the 1902A took a longer time than usual to "focus" and I had to "slap" the top of the hard drive to get it to spin up.
-----
Not sure that I'd sell it, but wanted to take this opportunity to brag (how often do you get to brag about your 128D and have someone know what the heck you're talking about!)
-----
P.S. The only thing that I don't have is the 20mhz accelerator, since that came "after" I had switched to the Amiga -- kind of wish I had gotten it, though!

@redrumloa

THAT was the response I was hoping for!

Thanks!  :-)
-------

I've thought of selling it many times, but I have an "un-natural" attachment to it! (Plus, if I sold it, I'd have to face how pitifully little I could get for it!)
-------

Out of curiosity, why are you looking?

Little you can get for it? CMD products hold their value much better than any Amiga products. You'd probably be suprised what it's worth.

Why am I looking? For a very long time I've wanted to scrap most other hobbies and just get back to playing with my favorite platform of all time, C= 8bitters. Now I'm actually doing it. Currently I have a Vic20 hooked up tinkering with the ML Monitor cart (Vic 1213). I'm also playing with a unique floppy drive, the MSD SD-2. Tonight I'll probably go online with a C64 and chat on IRC. Just having fun. My ultimate goal is to max out a C128D as my primary hobby computer. I'm willing to drop some $$ into it.

Edit:
BTW any chance you can send me a copy of the Computer Eyes software? Either by email or snail mail? I have the hardware, but I don't think I have the software.

Hey Alex:-) Keep in touch with your progress. I'm real happy so far with my decision to get back to the 8bitters.

BTW I'm probably going to join in this IRC channel tonight, you should too if you have time.

Remind me never to take you with me when buying a used car!

Sure -- it'll be a good excuse to set up everything again.

Here's hoping that my blank 5.25 floppies are still any good (stocked up on those too!).
-----------
BTW, among other things, I have an SX64 -- the last time I fired it up, the display was "scrambled" -- it would still load programs, etc.

Any experience with those? Is there some part that is known to fail that can be replaced?

LOL!!  Yea that is probably my only "true" retro computing passion.  I love the classic Amiga's but they are always 'for sale' to me except at least 1 A500 which I need to keep around for games.

I FTP'd from some C=64 FTP site a whole bunch of C64 games..and I mean alot..probably like 2000 games or something (0-1, A-Z)..I forget the name of the site but if I remember I'll post it.  Its not pirate stuff so I'm sure its ok.

What I really *really* want is a complete Vic 20.  I have a 1541 but I want a VIC 1541 (white to match the vic-20), I have about 30 cartridges etc.. I've been having trouble getting display working w/a TV switchbox so I'm going to try to hook it up direct to my 1942 which I *think* has RCA video inputs.

@TheMagicM

Thanks for the link, but I think I own every game/app that I ever wanted for the Commodore.

Although I'm not much of a game player, per se, racing games have pretty much led me down the path I've taken (computer-wise).

I bought my first 128 to play "Richard Petty's Talladega" (a truly awful game!). I bought my first Amiga to play "Indy 500" (a truly spectacular game!). I bought my first IBM compatible to play "Nascar Racing" (also, a truly spectacular game!).

The Vic 20 was the only computer I didn't buy to play a "specific" racing game.

I can also remember spending a lot of time playing Pool of Radiance (never made it past the grave yard), Alternate Reality, the Dungeon (the ex liked that game -- anything to get her into my "hobby"). Now that I think about it, maybe I AM a game player!   ;-)

No specific experience with the SX64 in repairs. I would guess though that you may be able to open it up and reseat the socketed chips. I assume the chips are socketed, and I'd assume maybe the VicII chip came loose.

I'd definately much appreciate it:-)

Seconded.  Man, Commodore BASIC (well, Microsoft BASIC for the Commodore) was the only language I've ever been able to program in...!
Back away from the EU-SSR!
