Well, I'm not. I bailed out first in '97. Didn't take more than a year for discontent to set in.

The only time I bother to use the PC these days is if my Amiga can't do something I need. That isn't too often, thankfully.

I'll pipe in too....

I didn't start on an amiga, and was amiga only, for only a short period of time... I cut my teeth on a TI-99 4/A, wrote 3 games for that machine (advanced basic)...

I had a TRS-80 Model III (basic programming), and an Atari 400, 800 (more basic programming).
Had an Atari ST (switched to pascal).

Eventually got an A1200 (C language).  I liked the Amiga community, it was the last bastion of what home computing was about....

but 5 years ago (how time flies now)...I sold that A1200, 060/50mhz...and got a very old used, powermac 6100, which was a nubus mac, but how it flew for web browsing compared to the miggy....

Eventually I got a G4 Mac when they were outrageously expensive I bought a top of the line G4/500 and overclocked that to 550....woooo I was king of the world... (never programmed it a bit, just did 3d rendering and animations)...and then I lost everything...and then I started over.

Currently my only pc is a PII/400 (C# programming), but I am ready to buy....just sitting around waiting....but I won't be wasting any money, thats for sure...

after the first and hopefully last bankruptcy....don't plan on wasting even a single dime going forward...Amiga's have always been expensive...so its a bit of an issue with me.

I'm not concerned in the least bit about someone else's need to make a profit.  The only way someone's getting an extra dime from me, is from my cold dead hands.....hehehe.....but I digress.

Ahhh, its fun to reminisce...did a lot of hardware projects too, anyone remember having to build the ring detector because the modem didn't come with one??  I had a cheap atari 400 modem like that...(300 bps!)

I don't find the PC, to be a paperweight, because you can do development work, learn OpenGL....even a linux box would be good enough, but I think windows is a bit more fun the Linux....I know its hard to believe, but despite my penchant for different and exotic, Linux comes off as dry and boring to me, I'd rather use windows....

Confession time.

I have two Amigas, but they rarely get switched on and will probably soon go in the museum with the Electron and Spectrum.

Using PC at home and Mac at work, but following the AmigaOne news with interest. When it comes out with AOS 4, I'll be there.  :-)

I'm typing this on my third Amiga, or should I say third and a half as I've replaced some parts.
I had some different computers in my pre Amiga days, and still have a couple of them standing around in corners, but they are just gathering dust. Imagine computing without multitasking... *shudder*
Anyway that's what I've got at home. I occasionally use a Lose-dows PC at work, and there's this place I stop by each day on my way to work to use another one of those monsters to do things on the net my Miggy can't do (yet).

I find Amiga.Org the last bastion of what home computing _is_ about.  :-D (uh, various this-beats-this discussion not counting in.)

i dont know what "Bailing Out" is actually supposed to mean...
i own many types of computers and i use many OS's, so for me "Bailing Out" would mean throwing out my A4000T and some of my other amigas and stuff, and only using all my other computers

anybody can use an amiga in addition to their ibm-pc installed with ms-windows! there is no need for throwing it away just to use somthing else
using linux all of a sudden, even on different hardware, does not have to mean you are leaving the amiga community!

It's nice surprise to read there are still Amiga Only users left, and not only 1 or 2 :)

For a long time I was Amiga only. Then a few years ago a friend of mine got sick of his PC and gave it to me, and I toyed with it a bit, but didn't actually use it much. Now I have 2 PCs, an Athlon XP 1800 and 2100+. One replaced my somewhat newer-ish K6-2+ 450, and the other is doing Tivo-like work next to my TV. The replacement was mostly used to get to websites that IBrowse 2.2 choked on, such as my bank account info and such, as well as the occasional round of HalfLife or something like that which isn't yet ported to Amiga. Eventually one of my older and currently unused PCs will become a linux firewall to my cablemodem, as I'm not going to spend the kind of money on an AmigaOne to do that work, when I have an old K6-2 laying around already paid for.

But now that IBrowse 2.3 came out, it gets me to all of the previously broken sites, the ones I've tried so far anyway, and have been using the PC less and less again, to the point that both PCs are now primarily cracking RC5 keys, and somewhat used for OpenOffice. (Still need to figure out how to give my credits to the Amiga RC5 team...) If OpenOffice gets ported to Amiga, then I won't have much real use for the PCs anymore, other than the Tivo-ish stuff, as I haven't been into games much lately and will need to catch up on all the PPC Amiga games I've already bought but never had a PPC card to run - Wipeout 2097, Heretic 2, Quake2, Nightlong PPC, Freespace, with my 060/66 not being enough to play the 68K versions of a couple of these well. I started buying PPC software back when the Metabox Amijoe 4000 was "coming soon". Man, I'm going to enjoy my new hardware!

We're 99.99% Amiga in our house.

Started with C64, then A500, now A1200T.

Oh, the 0.01% is an old 386/Win3.1 that believes
it's 1974. Well how could I get rid of it? We'll all get old
someday!

Cheers,

I have never bought x86 machines  But I have a laptop which I got for my work, so I use it for some of my homework too, and for networking, because I don't have a TCP stack which support PPPoE currently.

MiamiDX supports PPPoE. Quite well too.

I just started UAEing on my Duron 900Mhz 120MB WinXP PC and my amiga 1200 Apollo060-50Mhz 32MB 2GB HD is resting because of the spare TV has got an flicker attack
and i dont have a monitor switcher.
I should have bought a graphicscard along with my 060
I also have an A500 for really old games.

Well in this household, things were heavily stacked against the Amiga:

AMD Athlon 1200
GF Ti 4200
256mb ram
etc

AMD 900
Ati 9000 pro

Gateway :-D  celeron computer

A old 100mhz laptop

And an Xbox.

In terms of the amigas:

1 A1200, 040 40mhz
1 A2000, 030, 25mhz
1 CD32

From tomorrow however, things will once again swing in the Amiga's favour as I will be selling my Gateway and the motherbord and cpu of my AMD board (I have butchered both for components to use with an A1  ;-) ).

Hopefully by July or August I will have an A1 as well :-) .

Too be quite honest I hardly view my PEECEE as computer, rather a standard home appliance  :-o , which is required as a necessity for Uni work and Day of Defeat  ;-) .  In contrast, after having abandoned the Amiga  scene a few years ago, I'm finding that I am using them more and more!  They are simply more enjoyable to use even if they are hundreds of times slower (I tried WinUAE, but it does not give the same feeling as the real thing, oh well maybe I'm one just for nostalgia).
