Well, u probably haven`t heard about OS4 and A1 then?  ;-)
I did hear, but to me, these products have nothing to do with the Amiga. That's why I don't even conside getting myself a PPC board, I have an iBook, thanks.

I use my machine almost everyday, for many tasks which I cannot do with other machine, and I do not consider it to be dead at all, but I do think there is a lot of zealotry in the Amiga community which would be better if it didn't exist, for it hurts the "scene". For exampe, blind buying of sub-standard quality products, just to "support the Amiga"

I see quite a discussion coming ahead :)

no one is dying, you silly person.
what the heck is wrong with enjoying a hobby computer????

i have done PROFESSIONAL work with my amiga. I've been PAID for that work. So i love my amiga and the knowledge that is has afforded me.

That experience has given me a career in computer animation/graphics. I owe amiga some loyalty.

The experience has given me awards for the work i have done. While i have learned to use other OS's to continue my work, I STILL use AmigaOS, original and emulated. it is part of my art tools.

would you tell an artist that they are silly to use some old technique like oils just because it's "old"????

If it works, it's usefull. and those that like amigas think it's fun. and there is no better reason to use something than for fun!

are the companies "dead"?? yeah, basically. so what? I'M not dead. I live, i create, i still use amiga. and that is the only thing that counts.
the no CARB diet- no Cheney, Ashcroft, Rumsfeld or Bush.

I think the problem is that people not really involved see the Amiga as it was in the 90's not what it has become.

Pucky came here to get a reaction. You got one. Well done you.

Why dont you just face it that the Amiga system is dead and gone?

That's the equivalent of going to a vintage car owners' forum and saying "face it, the Mercedes SSK is dead!"

Well, duh!

Of course the Amiga is dead.
Us doing stuff with and talking about our old faithful boxes isn't a sign of denial. Well, not in most cases, I hope. ;)

  So RIP Amiga and long live the future.

Hear, hear!

Though I think there's more future in things like Athlon 64 or PowerMac G5 than in a Pentium 4... Get with the program! ;)

@whabang

thats "die europäische Bundesrepublik"  :-D
1. Make an announcment.
2. Wait a while.
3. Check if it can actually be done.
4. Wait for someone else to do it.
5. Start working on it while giving out hillarious progress-reports.
6. Deny that you have ever announced it
7. Blame someone else

You must all relize that and get with the program! Go out and buy a P4 3gHz(!) with 1gb(!) of RAM. Seriously.

:roflmao:

A pentium 4? Surely you mean an Athlon64? People here know the difference. Just because we happen to enjoy using an alternate system does not mean we don't know the first thing about PCs.

I suggest you ditch that chronic POS P4 ASAP and buy a real x86 machine :-P
