AmiFast 3000

Anybody here familiar with the AmiFast 3000? I am curious as to how reliable they are as well as how rare they are. From what I understand Zip chips are getting harder and harder to find and this would make life a lot easier as I have an abundance of EDO RAM just lying around. So any advice/ideas/grunts would be greatly appreciated. Cheers :-)

There were plans somewhere to make your own SIMM convertors, that reputedly work ok.  The Motherboard ram is slow enough with static Zips, so don't expect lightning performance :-D

I havn't seen any for sale commercially for quite some time (and I think the ones I saw weren't this particular model anyway), finding the plans might be the easier route.

Think I might just be better off getting an 040 board with its own fast ram. Thanks anyway :-)

I have one and it works great.  The problem with the homebrew model is it doesn't work with accellerators.

You could try to get a "SIMMFonie". I got it directly from the manufacturer, and it worked great! The downside is that you cant put an accelerator in, because the SIMMFonie is too tall.
