I may not be being very fair with this outfit but I seem to remember a lot of flaming Re: him on past boards so buyer beware.  There were those who loved him and others who thought he was a cheat  but then some of the old mags had interviewed him.  It says under new management but this happened many times before and some said it was to change his e-bay rating.  I assume the quote in Aus $ is cuz you're from Austtralia?  as before he was American.  Anyway, it's probably a moot point as in the description he mentions the word "soldering" which is a heads up unless he's referring to battery replacement.  The "as is" is also a bad sign.  If it's $5 you pay, fine, more?  Humh.

I've bought from them before, no problems. Of course, they are only a couple hours away  8-)  .

99.9% of the time, when you read "as-is", "untested" in an auction, it means the seller has tested them and they don't work.

But he knows that he'll get more money selling them as "untested" rather than "broken" so he pretends that he hasn't tested them and lists them "as-is".

If they worked, you can be damn sure the listing would say "100% tested and working Amiga 3000 motherboard".

My poor A3000 is in battery agony atm, its removed, but the damage it did is sad :-(

I have bought another A3000 to build up, but it has a past of battery damage professionally repaired but the battery was replace with another NiCad ! ack!!

While I troll eBay getting bit'n peices for this A3000, I was considering a spare mobo just in case

If the Centsible boards are toast, I wont bother importing into Australia

Thanx everyone for your replies

I had major problems with CentsiSoft... after the first "Under New Management" scheme. I too wanted to buy the A3000 mobo (same one as now?), but never received replies etc, only him trying to sell me bits and pieces from his "online shop". Luckily I hadn't posted any cash to him.

About 2 months ago I purchased a used 3000 motherboard from Centsible to replace one of my 3000 boards that have a nonfunctional 31khz output (battery damage.)  It arrived  in about two weeks.  The "good with a soldering iron" in my case referred to a 68030 soldered onto the motherboard off key (read: destroyed.)  Also, the board was missing several IC's, all the custom chips and a clock generator.  It may not always be the case, but that purchase was pretty much a waste of time.

The guy didn't want to send pictures in advance and wouldn't respond with anything other than offers to check his site for other stuff.  What really sucks is some schmuck bid the board up to $20 at the last minute.

Aargh,
Adrian

I also got a few things after the "change" in management and was not happy with the product. It was a spare A3000 chips, none of which worked when I tested them.

Sorry to re-awaken this old thread, but I have to ask:

anyone who bought any of the A3000 motherboards from this retard (Cents*), can you please tell me if any of the not-so-famous chips (Agnus, Paula, Denise, Amber, Ramsey, Gray, CIAs, Kickstarts, S-DMAC) where on board? For example, while trying to fix my A3000 I noticed that the four GALs (U710 U714 U203 U202) are rather hot and not sure if they're dead or not, so I wanted to replace them and see if that might fix problems (green screen on power on).

Any other details (revisions, did you get 3 boards? any solder work on them?) are welcomed as well.

Thanks in advance

Want to re-awaken this, so we can at least collect some info on these Centsible motherboards.

Can anyone who's received one give an account of what state the board was in?

Thanks in advance
