why?

there is so little difference between 3.0 n 3.1 if i remember rightly, and what are the differences?

and is it worth buying 3.9?

i currently still have 3.0

but there is 3.5 and 3.9 on ebay at the moment, and i was thinking of upgrading to one

The main advantages of OS3.5/3.9 are the TCP/IP stack, large HD support, CDFS, and other support software.  If none of this interests you, then stick to OS3.0/3.1.

currently i'm trying to get network suppoert running on my 1200, see the netconnect issue in the post above

and i have cd running already,

large hard drive support would be nice, but idont need it at the moment - but for the future, yes it'll be nice

The main advantages of OS3.5/3.9 are the TCP/IP stack,

AOS 3.5 doesn't include full TCP/IP stack, but Miami demo (30 min timeout, also available in Aminet).
The excuse:
Code: [Select]

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Unfortunately it couldn't be done in lastmimnute.
Miami OEM couldn't be finished in time, therefore a Demoversion
that is restricted to 30 minutes is included. The OEM Version
will be made available via Internet shortly.
Please lookout for Notes in the Amiga press and on the Amiga Homepage
www.amiga.com.

We thank you for your understanding.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

WICHTIGER HINWEIS:

Amiga Homepage www.amiga.de.

Wir danken für Ihr Verständnis.

AOS 3.5 never got TCP/IP stack, even though it was advertised to include it.

AOS 3.9 contains illegal copy of AmiTCP/IP.

i downloaded the miami demo and it doesnt work properly

or doesnt install properly

i have a full original copy of the netconnect V2.3 software ,

i'll scan the CD, coz i know you guys hate "WAREZ" so much, but the serial code included with it wont go throught the licence thingy, so it wont unpack genesis 4.6

I had a 3.0 kickstart setup a few years ago on an A1200. I renumbered the version numbers of "dos.library" and "exec.library" to the required 41.xx. I used a program called "libchange" IIRC from Aminet. This worked okay for OS35. Heh.

Hum,
you should perhaps have the option to buy Amiga 3.1 ROMs with it in a sort of `upgrade bundle` sort of way...

(er, since it is really useless with out it)

@blobrana

I wish I could find a good stock of OS3.1 ROMS. I may have a line on some A500/A2000 ROMS, but no A3k/A4/A1200:-(

Plus things as integrated deficons, newicons, integrated search function, async wb, improved datatypes that make it much more useful than 3.0/3.1.. everyone with 3.1 roms really should get OS3.9, its well worth its money..
