i have an upgraded a1200 i want a 3000 trade anyone?

i have an amiga 1200 with a microbotics m1230xa accelerator with 32 megs of ram, a 1.5 gigabyte hd and a converted pc power supply. The system has 3.0 roms and os installed, and some games and stuff.

what i want is an a3000. nothing too terribly spectacular neccessary but i would like some fast ram and a hard drive any size; 2.x is fine for the os.

i was going to sell my rig on ebay then buy one on ebay since i can get about enough for a descent 3000, but that seemed kinda stupid if someone here would want to trade.

shipping would obviously be different my way than whoevers but we could work something out.

this a1200 is in good condition, works perfectly.

Maybe... I have a 16mhz A3000D that is basically a stock later edition A3000 (not a ROM tower version), complete with a 1GB SCSI Quantum Fireball HD and I think 8MB Fast RAM and the full 2MB chip.  It's been a machine I've been meaning to build up and just never got around to.  It runs great, and has a nearly perfect desktop case.

Where are you located at?  I'm in Detroit, MI, USA.

im in chenango forks, new york. what os does your 3000 have? and do you have the os disks. the a1200 has os3.0 disks except install. that was normal from what ive heard.

Hmm... Which do you want it to have?  I think I have a SuperKickstart, a 2.04 chip, and maybe a 3.1 chip.

I don't know which disks are original to the machine, as I've owned several 3000s and many other Amigas over the years, and stuff has gotten shuffled.  I'd give a set of originals appropriate for whichever ROM you wanted, though.  (Other than 2.04, I may only have a backup set of 2.04/2.1.)  If you want the SuperKickstart, I DO have an original SuperKickstart floppy, as well.  :-)

I think I also have a big 3-ring binder that originally came with the A3000.

Yeah, the only US A1200s that came with the install disk were the A1200HD models.  If you added a HD later, you were supposed to buy the Commodore "HD Upgrade Kit" which included the install disk and a few other goodies.  I don't think anyone ever bought the kit, though.  ;-)

probably the  3.1 rom would be best.

i have a couple of mice if you would need one for the 1200 and the original power supply as well. that is missing the connector since it is wired in to the pc power supply. i also think i have an rf adapter or some old composite cables whichever you would want. it doesnt have the vga adapter.

so do you want to trade then?  :-D  your 3000 sounds about what im looking for.

Actually, a bonus for you, the machine is a 25mhz model A3000, not the 16mhz one.  

We'll move it over to e-mail and hopefully iron out the details.  (I have a few more detailed questions about the 1200, as you probably do about the 3000, as well.)

i have an accelerator and might be getting a video card for cheap for an a3000 thats why i want one but this a1200 has been great.

you can do as much if not more with an a1200 as with an a3000 with the only main concern being a tower conversion but a 3000d doesn't have an enormous amount of space in it either.

It's really all in what you want.  The A1200 with the 1230 is quite a bit more powerful than the stock A3000.  Plus it's a nice small desktop all-in-one case.  

The A3000 is a beautiful machine.  It's stronger and more stable, durable, and expandable.  

But I have plenty of big-box Amigas (including another A3000, 2 4000s, and I think even a 2000 or 2 somewhere in the closet), but I want a little tiny dynamo like my old A1200 that I sold years ago.  I know exactly what I'm looking for.  :-)

And it's a pretty fair deal.  Both machines would bring about an equal price on the open market.
