One thing I'll say about IBrowse 2.3, it's very fast at loading tables. I'd gotten somewhat used to Voyager's method of click on a link to a large table, and go make a sandwich while it renders the thing.

The only problem I've seen so far is that IBrowse uses the default font rather than the fixed-width font for rendering
tags. Normally that's not a big deal, but I can't use IBrowse to look at text maps I frequently refer to for a role-playing game.  Any IBrowse experts know how to configure around this without using a fixed-width font as the default?
I sold my Amiga for a small fortune, but a part of my soul went with it.

Voyager's spoofing works, and fools most sites into believing they're being accessed by Mozilla rather than by an Amiga browser.

Voyager spoofs with "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.0; Win98)". It also allows the spoof string to be user-configured.

IBrowse uses "Mozilla/4.5 [en] (Win98; I) (Compatible IBrowse/2.0 (AmigaOS 3.1))" which is hardcoded and gives away the fact that it ain't really Mozilla, and some sites require more to be convinced.
I sold my Amiga for a small fortune, but a part of my soul went with it.

@ Madgun68

"Anyone here a regestered Ibrowse user? Does the javascript work (better) on Amiga.org? (Things such as smilies, quoting.. etc.)
"

I just tired the "Quote" under message with you and I got the javascript text box.  The text box come up empty.  I could type in it, yet when I went to preview, nothing showed up.

It seems it tries, but not quite there yet.

Ah! It's as I thought then.. WinUAE still doesn't function right on my stupid PeeCee. All I get is a screen full of corruption. Thanks.

The latest JIT-WinUAE works fine with my WinXP-Pro-SP1/nForce2(SPP/MCP-T)/GeF4TI(with 41.09 drivers) box.

when does it support flash? nice page have flash, but the new version of ibrowse does not support. If it came with OS4.0, i think that the Os must have a browse that supports flash.

:(

Flash would be nice, even if its not so great. The more compatability the better obviously. There ren`t that many sites which use flash anyway. I would say that thats quite a low priority really.

Role on v3!

As for the price. You`ll have to under stand why the price is what it is. £35 isn`t OTT is it? Its not £350. Thats the way your acting. They NEED some money. If they charge a small price (like I`m sure they would like), they wouldn`t make as much money. Simple as that. Get it?

quite weird this really, i would belive that the reason for the high price is due to ALLREADY 90% of the amiga market had bought an earlier version so they didnt exactly expect major sales.

but then again it seems from the looks of it that only 3 of the people in here is regged users (v2 or v1->).

Maybe the whole priceing scheme havent worked out?? , maybe we need to make a poll? to make the publisher aware of that there aint many who has it allready regged???

anyway i am regged but i still think that someone should do a serious poll on this as the os4 version of ib2.3 is a SE version so basically that means another demo version (without a 30min barrier i guess (speculations ONLY)

Whats up with all the hate!

Well CSS will be in v3 so no need to keep wishing :-)

Yes I`m surprised at the lack of registered users on here. Can`t remember if I`ve said this before. I`m registered.

Thought I'd add my quid's worth.
I downloaded IB2.3 last night and had a very stable night's browsing.  So stable in fact that The IB icon now has pride of place on my Workbench screen where V used to be.  (well I made an icon myself as I hate those magic icons)

I am a registered user of IBrowse and I have been waiting for this upgrade for quite a while.  I find the new IBrowse to be more stable, slightly faster, and now that I have AmiSSL, I can access secure pages again.  All things considered, this is a fantastic upgrade.  Just for the fact that someone is coding for the Amiga again is a fantastic thing.  Frankly, to keep coders working on the Amiga, I would pay the $55 USD price if I hadn't already done that with the previous versions of IBrowse.  Bring on v3.0!

If I had unlimited funds, I'd buy IBrowse.  Unfortunately, I don't, and $55 US is on the high end of expensive game software.  If I'm spending near that much I'm planning on getting Payback before that, and the deathbed vigil.  Not to mention still trying to gather funds for the AOne.  I would have to agree with the earlier post that $35 would be a more appropriate price point for a browser.  I think Opera retails for $39, and it is far more advanced, of course.  Obviously, the lack of a JVM is not the IBrowse people's problems.  That should be an issue the OS developer should take care of, or Sun, not that Sun gives a flying flip about the Amiga.
