Hadn't noticed there was one with an external temp. sensor.
Sould be perfect then!

Hi.Need you guy's opinion again.
I'm gonna get a Verax one, but I'm kind of undecided as to wich model. The one that allows regulation of the temperature/ speed curve doesn't seem to allow an external temperature sensor. I'm more inclined towards the one with the external sensor, they say that it's more or less calibrated towards general PSUs, reaching 3500rpm at 45ºC and  2000rpm at 40ºC, so the question I have is this:
Do you think that covers the A4000's PSU? Does it get more hot than a general PC PSU? Of course, it depends on use, so consider both an averagely loaded one and one powering an heavily expanded A4000D wich is my planned future situation :-)

@Jose:

It is hard to know if it will move enough air, but if you opt for an heavily expanded system I urge you to widen the air-outlets at the back of the psu. This as disregarding how powerful fan you will get it will be severely limited by the tiny outlets.

I also again recommend you to follow the general advices I gave to you in an earlier post regarding how to increase the air circulation and lower the temp in the A4000D case by simple means like removing the backplates which aint used, using rounded cables, routing the cables wise etc.

(edit:)

The fan with the external temp-sensor should cover the A4000D if you mount the sensor in the back of the psu near the air-outlets. This is as it will not directly measure the air temp inside the case - 40C is not a good idea inside the A4000 case. It will instead measure the air from inside the case after it is warmed up by the components inside the PSU which should give a good result. Though there are never any guarantees - if you experience high temperatures you better get a more powerful fan or your A4000 will have a short life and maybe suffer from instability.

Hi José

---------------------------------------
What's up dudes. Since I was disappointed with the noise of the A4000 PSU I decided to start a thread on the best way to make the thing silent. That's one of the things I allways preferred on my A1200 over my noisy AMD PC.

So right now I was thinking about changing the PSU's fan.
---------------------------------------

IMO there is no eal reason to replace your A4K PSU for another one, if the original is still in working condition, the more if you think you have to solder all those cables again and make the pertinen modification to the new PSU.

Just open your PSU and cut one of two fan cables. get a PTC resistor and solder it betwwen the cable you just have cut.

This way the PTC resistor will regulate how much voltage goes to the FAN, and it will regulate it dinamically (depending on the current)

The other option is making alittle termoregulator, applying the sensor to the pasive cooler of the PSU conmutted transistos, and the output to the fan, this way the Fan will spin whin more speed it the psu is hot and viceversa.

best Regards
