A3000 UX up for grabs
« on: July 06, 2004, 12:37:54 AM »
Hi all

If you remember earlier this year I acquired a lot of Amigas from a library (saved them from soldering practice :-o )  Anyway, I unfortunately have to get rid of the 3000UX.  It is taking up space and I don't have the time or knowledge to do anything with it.  I removed the battery to prevent leakage, but have not soldered a new one on.  I tried installing a new SCSI drive into the machine with OS 2.04 on it, but it seems it has some graphical corruption (someone told me maybe its a couple of small chips overheating?)  Anyway it is a beautiful machine, 68030/882 25MHz I believe it has 8 MB ram but it may be 4.  1MB chip is all it has for chipram but it has sockets for more.  the onboard flicker fixer works wonderfully (the graphical corruption is definitely not analog - believe me)  I also installed an Emplant Mac card that I inhereted because 1. I don't have any software for it and 2. I'm not a mac fan.  I'm not sure if the mac card has roms or needs them or whatnot but I have an old 030 mac in my car trunk I might be able to snatch the ROMS from if need be.  Anyway it is free for the taking if anyone is interested.  Oddly I don't think the HDD light is working but I know the HDD works.  I will put the drive that I got with it back in, which has an installation of AMIX on it.  It comes up to a password prompt and that's as far as I've ever gotten with it.  I don't have the AMIX disks/tape either.  Also I will include the A3070 (?) tape drive as that goes with it I think.  Please let me know if you are interested I would be glad to give it away, and it would really be nice if I didn't have to ship it anywhere as you know the 3000s were built like brick $hithouses :-)  If someone can fix the graphical error problem it will be a nice machine.  I always loved the A3000's sleek design, but I must say goodbye and start working on selling the A2500s I have.  If you want pics of it running they are  here and here

I'm located in the northwest of Illinois, USA

Thanks!
-Jamie

As a side note, I should add that I could ship to somewhere if nobody can come pick her up in my area.  I just want someone to take her and fix her and get some use out of her.

Also the HDD installed is 500MB.

Greetings:

I am very interested in your 3000.  I would even send shipping money for it.. I live in KS and it is not too expensive.  Perhaps if it is already snatched up (the 3K being EXACTLY what I am looking for) then you would tell me how much for one of your A2500's?

e-mail me at jmikeneedham(at)sbcglobal(dot)net to hook this up if you want and someone else hasn't already made a deal with you on it.

Thanks,

The graphics corruption is caused by bad U202/U203 PALs.  Amitrix used to be able to supply them. Unfortunately, although their website is still up, they don't seem to answer emails.
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(

Hello again everyone, just wanted to write and let you all know that someone closeby came and picked her up.  Now she has a good home and I can start on selling the A 2500s I have.

Thanks for all your replies
