phone menu systems, call centres

"please dial in your inside leg measurement now", pretty much sums up how stupid some companies' phone menu systems are (when you ring up customer services)... Grr.

The sooner that the call centre culture dies, the better.

I'll tell you guys a little secret:
Not pressing any button usually gets you to the right place!

BTW, we have three lines at work. All go to the same staff, so it doesn't matter which you call. :-D

Yeah, straight through to an asian call center where they all have really thick asian (usually indian) accents who speak really quietly. :-P

Half the conversation is me asking "what was that?"

:admonish:

Stupid banks/government organisations/insurance companies/customer services/public transport services are replacing every single counter with a real-life person behind with useless speaking computers and/or even more useless clueless idiots behind a phone who have zero knowledge about the matter at hand.

The bloody train service here in The Netherlands is asking 50 cents extra when you buy a trainticket at a counter instead of a machine now! And they're thinking of completely abandoning the international trainticket service at the counter. 'Here have this 0900 number to buy your trainticket to Germany' :pissed:.

Or what about banks closing down every branch in rural communities :-x :whack:.

Oh wait, ofcourse. This is the information age. We don't need physical contact anymore now, isn't it?  .

Not if you're phoning an evil organisation like BT.  Then you get transferred continually between apartments, the call dropped several times...
