And all the other Floridians here also.
Looks like it's gonna be windy and wet. Hope you and yours (and your property too) will be OK.

Thanks Fluffy, I appreciate it. Luckily it's projected path is pretty far off. I am on the south east corner and it will likely hit much further north on the west side of Florida. That's right about where my parents live though.. It's only projected to be a category 1 storm at this point..

I'm still not taking any chances though. 2PM today the hurricane warning was downgraded to a hurricane watch for South Florida, but I was still stocking up on water and such. I got a few odd stares.. These things are unpredictable, and even the best guess at a path and strength is just that, a guess. I'm not worried, but I'm ready just in case. Now if it was another category 3+ like Andrew, I'd be worried.

Thanks again for the concern.

That's actually not all that far fetched to areas getting hit

Well the update on the hurricane is that it is continuing to move away from South Florida, but is continuing on it's path for central west Florida where my parents are. It also did not lose strength passing over Cuba, it gained strength. It is now 1MPH short of being a category 3 storm, and it is expected to strengthen before landfall in FL. The area of Fl that it is projected to hit has not had a direct hit from a hurricane in ~80 years. I hope these people are taking the threat seriously, a cat3 or 4 storm is very serious. I have little worries for my parents, my father was in law enforcement down here during Andrew and was involved in the cleanup efforts after. They know all to well the effects of a large storm and safeguard themselves. Let's hope the rest of the people do too.

First thing's first...

Have you got all your Amiga stuff all packed away in a hurricane proof place? ;-)

Just kidding :-P

Take care of yourself (and the family of course :-) ) and be prepared for the worst.
