A3200/A3400 CPU with a zorro 1200?
« on: April 27, 2004, 09:07:31 PM »
Would that card work with the micronik zorro board?Just i heard you can use an a300/4000 cpu card and then it activates the zorro 3 mode.
thanks.

I think you'd get Zorro 3 activated, but I'm not sure you can continue using any A1200 accelerators. If that's the case, you should probably try to find a more up-to-date A3000 CPU slot style accelerator

Yup if you stick a A3k/A4k FastSlot CPU board on the Z3 daughterboard it should activate Z3 mode and the accelerator should just work nicely.

However I don't know if there are any incompatibilty issues with certain CPU-boards/Zorro boards. I'm sure there must be some though.

It would work fine and activate ZIII mode. The downside is if you have an A1200 with an accelerator and your RAM is on that you loose it as well. Thats why you need to care about an a1200 accelerator.

Thanks for the replys ppl, been a good help.
Ok well just incase ppl are getting mixed up due to my signature i thought id mention that the system im talking of is just a spare really.I had it awhile now and i wasnt sure what i was gonna do with it as other than zorro and 3.1 roms it has no upgrades and i might have a chance in getting an 030 3000 card which was pulled from a working machine.
Thanks again.

Ah, if that's the case, then go for it. But you should still probably replace the 3200 with an accelerator that has some RAM expansion on it if the opportunity comes along - unless you've got one of those Z3 RAM boards :-)
