Why don't the Yam dev team say something, I think the
Amiga developers are too quiet, I mean, it's been over
a year ago since they released 2.3p1, why can't they
just say something, anything, when we can expect a new
release, when we can expect html possibilities etc...
When we can expect anything at all...

Why does it always take several years for an update to
appear on the Amiga??
I mean we are getting seriously behind everybody else.
If we want to expand the Amiga community, we have to have
some good apps, that are updated at a normal speed...

Personally I hate html in emails and I dont think an email client should be able to read html mails. All that is needed is for an option to sent the attached html to a browser, something YAM does quite well via arexx and OpenURL. I concider YAM to be a mature product so im quite happy to continue to use the same version for a long time to come yet.

New beta versions are released regularly.

So what? 2.3 is a mature, stable product. It doesn't turn into a bad product just because it's 12 months old.

HTML e-mails suck. If you want to write HTML e-mails, use Outlook.

If you want to view HTML e-mails with YAM, use HTMLRead
or YamHTML.

Because there are very few coders left, and they just code in their spare time? Because YAM's most active developer is working on other Amiga-related projects too (OS4, AmCVS)?

We are, but certainly not in regard to e-mail clients.

Yes, html mails might suck, but the thing is, we can't
just think what's good for us, but what's good for other
people. With the AmigaOne and OS4, we have a good chance
to expand the Amiga community with people from other platforms,
but for that to work, we can't be narrowminded about our
Amiga programs, in the way that it's good for us, we need
to look beyond that and think what others might need.
And I'm quite sure that an email client that can't read html
mails ain't gonna make them to happy, as is our browsers,
that really can't do that much...
And this is really important, since everybody is surfing the
web and emailing everyday, both at work and at home.
So if we want people back to the Amiga, we need to put more
effort in to theese programs and I seriously mean that!

I suppose if you are looking to make people come back to the Amiga, than adding comuter illiterate functionality like HTML mail would be useful.  Frankly, I see zero chance of the Amiga becomming mainstream again, so I'd rather it stick to making good software the way it should be.

As for YAM, the only thing I'd change on it at this point is the Address Book, with an easier way to send mail to multiple entries in it.
