rtgmaster.library version confusion!
« on: April 02, 2004, 01:06:13 PM »
Hi,

I'm trying to find the latest version of the rtgmaster.library package. I searched the forums and found a thread saying that the version on Aminet is the latest.
But the version that comes on the Genetic Species CD seems to be much much later:

AMINET VERSION:
rtgmaster.library 14.0
rtgami.library 1.84
rtgegs.library 2.31
rtgcgx.library 2.34
rtgpica.library 1.0 (no rtgp96.library)

GENETIC SPECIES VERSION:
rtgmaster.library 37.0
rtgami.library 38.0
rtgegs.library 39.8
rtgcgx.library 39.0
rtgp96.library 39.0 (no rtgpica.library)

The file time/date stamps on the GS CD are all more or less the same (presumably when the CD was created) so I've had to use the "version" command in shell, rather than just use time/date stamps for comparison.

Anyone know which is the latest? (might not be either of the above!)

Steve.

Open all the files with a text editor and hopefully next to the version in the file, it should have a date (dd/mm/yyyy). I think it may also show up if you are using OS3.5 and 3.9 and you bring up the icon information Window (and click the version check button).

Try this:
Quote

c:version Libs/rtgmaster.library  full
rtgmaster.library 42.0
(07-Oct-98)

Using "c:version Libs/rtgmaster.library full" just gives the same as above.

AMINET VERSION:
rtgmaster.library 14.0 11/12/1996
rtgami.library 1.84 23/04/1996
rtgegs.library 2.31 23/04/1996
rtgcgx.library 2.34 23/04/1996
rtgpica.library 1.0 25/01/1996

GENETIC SPECIES VERSION:
rtgmaster.library 37.0 12/05/1998
rtgami.library 38.0 13/05/1998
rtgegs.library 35.0 13/02/1998 (39.8 using "version")
rtgcgx.library 39.0 14/06/1998
rtgp96.library 39.0 09/06/1998

So it seems the version on Aminet is quite a long way out of date?

Apparently so, although Cass seems to be using a newer one as it follows the correct naming scheme.

Cheers Nightshade! I also found it here on an Aminet mirror, although I got the link from a completely different website and not by navigating through Aminet. Maybe not all Aminet mirrors are up to date? I'm trying to find a link to a homepage in the documentation, no luck so far.

Steve.
